After a nice farewell to 2011 and a most amicable greeting for 2012, I wondered what we might send you as our wish for the new year in this letter. After a bit of groggy head-scratching it struck me that the very last additions to our collections on New Years Eve 2011 are the most appropriate greetings for 2012. On Saturday, December 31st, I doggedly worked up the 94 photographs of the obverse and reverse sides of an eclectic series of Franklin Mint bronze medals which we had just acquired. These were no pricey sellers at $14.99 each, but I found the leaping diversity of subject and play of design between medals to be immensely intriguing. Take my word for it - when one has created a 100 layered image file and then clicks through the layers to check their order and alignment, it can make an interesting and unique slide show. This slideshow covered the gamut. I felt like my last day of work of 2011 actually covered everything under the sun. So, whether your interests lie in the creation of the modern Turkish state, the Boston Tea Party, the discovery of Troy, Comet Kohoutek or just about anything else under the sun, this collection will have a spark for you.
Enjoy, stay inquisitive & have a most Happy New Year!
