US Steel Company - 35 Years Service Medal - Sterling Silver - Presented to Jacob Speelman - 1927 US Steel Company - 35 Yrs Sterling Silver Service Medal - 1927

"I actually photographed this piece over a year ago but it recently came to my attention again as I was going through lists of our Sterling Silver exonumia. My preferences for coins, tokens and medals usually lies in pieces from pivotal times in history and often veers toward the what may have then seemed common, base or cheap. In this case this memento of service to the U.S. Steel Corporation by Mr. Speelman harkens back to the verge of our Great Depression and a time in Labor history that is well worth remembering."

  Palau - Battle of Teutoburg Forest - 9 A.D. $1 2009 - 3 Coin Set

The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, described as the Varian disaster by Roman historians, took place in 9 A.D., when an alliance of Germanic tribes led by Arminius ambushed and destroyed three Roman legions, along with their auxiliaries, led by Publius Quinctilius Varus. Despite numerous successful campaigns and raids by the Roman army over the Rhine in the years after the battle, the Romans were to make no more concerted attempts to conquer and permanently hold Germania. Each coin measures 35mm by 35mm and is struck from 27 grams of copper that has been silver-plated. This beautiful three coin set comes as shown with a Certificate of Authenticity.
