"I actually photographed this piece over a year ago but it recently came to my attention again as I was going through lists of our Sterling Silver exonumia. My preferences for coins, tokens and medals usually lies in pieces from pivotal times in history and often veers toward the what may have then seemed common, base or cheap. In this case this memento of service to the U.S. Steel Corporation by Mr. Speelman harkens back to the verge of our Great Depression and a time in Labor history that is well worth remembering."
