Jacksonville

FNL (Friday Night Lights) Returned Jacksonville. Joined by NCSY advisors Rachel Golian of New York; Ben Labovitz of Baltimore & David Spektor of Boca Raton. We closed this amazing Shabbos with a Motzoei Shabbos Lounge Night program. The Senior NCSYers enjoyed a movie with pizza & ice cream while the Jr NCSYers enjoyed playing Wii, and having pizza & ice cream.
Savannah Sunday Jan. 23 was "Make your own sushi night" at BBJ. Amazing turnout of 21 teens! Everyone had a great time as they rolled their sushi together. Then everyone was treated to 2 really awesome TJJ videos, featuring their very own Savannah Teens! "It was delicious! Thank you!" "It was a ton of fun!" "It was great!"
Atlanta Jewish Student Union clubs across greater Atlanta kicked off the new semester with Tu B'Shevat activities and celebrations! Over 300 teens attended Rabbi Neiditch's festive club meetings that included dipping fresh fruits into creamy milk chocolate fondue and making delicious smoothies. Teens also learned a portion of the Talmud examining the holiday of Tu B'Shevat and discussed the Jewish view on environmentalism. For many teens this was their first time learning about this holiday.

TeamYachad
Last Sunday Team Yachad participated in the Miami ING Marathon. Over 70 runners from around the Country represented Team Yachad, to raise awareness for Yachad and their mission to emphasize inclusion in the broad Jewish Community. The weekend kicked off with an incredible Shabbaton in Miami, including 18 members of Yachad South Florida, the runners, advisors, and Southern NCSY's Rabbi Ben Gonsher and his family. Divrei Torah were given by runners and Yachad members. Saturday night was highlighted by a Kumsitz on the beach, with singer Avi Fried and our own Aryeh Posner, father of a Yachad member. Sunday we went to the marathon, cheering on our runners, singing of "Yachad, Yachad" as they crossed the finish line. It was a wonderful weekend having a great time, b'yachad!!

NCSYDvar Torah
Binyomin Barman is a Vice President of Southern NCSY and a member of NMB NCSY.
He is a senior at RASG.
He is currently on way to the Savannah Jr NCSY Shabbaton!
In the beginning of parsha Terumah it says " And you should take for ME terumah (a portion). Why does it say take for me? Me is referring to Hashem.
Obviously if they are taking off this portion, the Terumah it is for Hashem.
The Torah is telling us that Hashem wants the Bnei Yisroel to help build the Mizbeach for Hashem willingly.
We see so often in life that people will do favors for others but it is not solely for the other's benefit. They might also derive benefit from it or they may be looking for something in return.
We can learn from this parsha, especially this Shabbos which is Rosh Chodesh Adar I, that we should help each other and be willing to do anything for our friends any time we can. We're not here to keep score, just to help each other - it's the right thing to do.
We should come into this shabbos with an extra special sense of joy being that it is Shabbos Rosh Chodesh too. Let's for ways to do nice things for others, and bring unity among the Jewish people. By doing this, we should merited to see the coming of Moshiach real soon!!!
Have a good shabbos and chodesh tov!
