2008 Santa Fe Indian Market Winner

Best of Classification, painting: Sheldon Harvey.

Best of Classification, sculpture: Sheldon Harvey.

Nobody could remember there being such a double win at Santa Fe's Indian Market before. At last came the announcement of Best of Show. For his painting "Trixter Way": Sheldon Harvey.

Sheldon was more than an hour late for the awards ceremony. Still at work in his studio, he had to be cajoled into making an appearance, and was a bit taken aback by all the fuss.

Although the Best of Show award was for his painting, Sheldon's winning sculpture was equally powerful. You can see the painting online in the Santa Fean newspaper article dated August 23, 2008. The sculpture appeared in Sheldon's ad in the Indian Market magazine, and we have a photo here for those of you who missed it. Both have sold, of course!

Today we posted new paintings by Sheldon Harvey, one of which is shown at right. We will have new sculptures soon. Please take a look at the work of this year's Best of Show winner.
