Dear (Contact First Name),  Summer is still a few weeks away, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Heat and drought are coming together and making the garden a place that is hard to look forward to. We have a few tips to help below.
Don't forget Father's Day on Sunday, June 19th. Dad loves to garden too, so bring him by for some shopping fun (and even a deal or two). That same weekend, we will be celebrating the tomato in all it's glory with our Ultomato Festival. Saturday, June 18th. All tomato, all day.
We are having a Sharpening party on Saturday the 18th from 2pm-5pm, so bring out all your tools for a fresh edge! Good luck, fearless gardeners, stay cool!

Don't Forget Dad!!!
Father's Day is Sunday, June 19th this year. You know dad loves to garden and loves a good tool, so we are having a Father's Day tool sale that weekend. Friday, June 17th-Sunday, June 19th, take 25% off all tools, including watering supplies (sprinklers, hoses, etc...). Also, we will be having another Knife Party on the 18th, so bring Dad, with his tools, to get a fresh edge on his cutting implements.

Ultomato Festival!!!
June is harvest time for most of your tomatoes, so we're having an Ultomato Festival to get you on track. We will be tasting, juicing, drying, eating, and otherwise enjoying tomatoes all day on Saturday, June 18th. We're talking all tomato, all day!!! More info here.

It's a Sharpening Party!!!
 This went so well in May, we're doing it again! The guys from Knife Party are super nice and do excellent work. In addition to sharpening my trusty old Felco pruners and a shovel, they put an edge on my Grandfather's old hunting knife that I massacred a few years back.
They will be here on Saturday, the 18th from 2pm-5pm. Right in the middle of Ultomato and just in time for Father's Day.

A Great Summer Read (especially for this
summer)
This is a great new publication from our friends at the Master Gardeners Association. They're the people that brought us the Garden Guide for Austin and Vicinity, one of our favorite books here at TGO.
This new book is all about creating landscapes that require little to no water, once established. Like the Garden Guide, it was written by Austinites, for Austinites, so you know all the info inside will be good for our area. Plus, monies stay here in Austin and help support TCMGA.
So, work in the garden early, then spend the hottest part of the day thumbing through this great read. |
