Virtually attend the 2012 CCTS Scientific Meeting

The presentations from the 2012 Third Annual CCTS Scientific Meeting,"The Integration of 'Omics' into Clinical and Translational Research", are now available to view online, including keynote presenter Christopher P. Austin, MD, scientific director of the Center for Translational Therapeutics, National Institutes of Health.

CCTS Pilot Program Announces Multi-Track RFA for 2012 
The submission deadline is approaching

 

Each track is designed for the research team to carry out the goals of the CCTS and build the translational science discipline throughout The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital. 

 

The submission deadline is June 30, 2012.

All translational investigators are encouraged to join

2012 Davis/Bremer Pilot Award Winners Announced

 

Katherine Walsh, MD, Sujatha P Bhandary, MD and Ciaran J. Powers, MD, PhD are this year's Davis/Bremer Pilot Award recipients. These awards are given to physician scientists working on innovative projects impacting human health.

Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules

An innovative model, for companies interested in collaborations across various disciplines

 

"Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules" will match researchers with more than 20 molecular compounds from Pfizer Inc., AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly and Company to help scientists explore new treatments for patients.

 

The number of compounds the eight companies are making available has more than doubled to 58 total. This initiative is open to all interested companies and could serve as a model for similar collaborations among government, biomedical research organizations and industry.

CCTS to host the NIH's Bioethics Videocast Seminar Series

The Department of Bioethics Research Ethics presents its Autumn 2012 Videocast Seminar Series   

 

The CCTS will host a seven week videocast seminar series September 26 - November 7, 2012 on Wednesdays 8:30 am - 11:30 am. The videocast will be held in Suite 205/Room 258 in the Prior Health Sciences Library.

 

CEUs for nurses and CCRCs available for those who attend at least six of the seven sessions. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion. Space is limited and completion of pre-/post test evaluation is required.

Course to open in Autumn 2012

The new online tool is designed to help Researchers and Clinicians become more innovative. When the classroom sessions are complete, continued support will be available to assist with the continual development of innovative practices.

NeuroNEXT Webinar Registration Open
NeuroNEXT to host webinar for new Academic Investigators and Disease Study Groups

The Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials (NeuroNEXT) is designed to increase the efficiency of clinical trials, to facilitate patient recruitment and retention, to increase the quality of neuroscience clinical trials and to enable public-private partnerships.

 

NeuroNEXT is hosting a webinar on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 1:00 - 2:00pm EST to introduce new Academic Investigators and existing Neurological Disease Study Groups to the NeuroNEXT network. Featured discussions include an overview of NeuroNEXT, the NeuroNEXT application process and opportunities for disease study groups.

Third Conference on Clinical Research for Rare Dieases

Jennifer McCallister, MD

The Ohio State University's Center for Clinical and Transitional Science awarded Jennifer McCallister, MD, with a pilot award for her research focused on improving the care of asthma patients through her investigation of asthma among women.

 

It's estimated that 20 million Americans - one in 15 people - suffer from asthma. The condition accounts for one-fourth of all emergency room visits in this country annually as well as 10 million outpatient visits and 500,000 hospitalizations.
