RFA Multi-Track Collaborative Center Pilot CCTS Pilot and Collaborative Studies Program Multi-Track Collaborative Center Pilots Request for Applications.
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is pleased to announce the 2012 collaborative multi-track pilot RFA.
The CCTS Pilot and Collaborative Studies Program aims to create translational integrated research teams across the OSU Health Sciences.

The Stanley Cup Has Nothing on the MatchMaestro. ResearchMatch.org has presented the OSU CCTS with the MatchMaestro Award for the first quarter of 2012.
The MatchMaestro is presented quarterly to the Clinical and Translational Science Award institution which has enrolled more participants into research studies at their institution via matches made through ReseachMatch.org, the NIH sponsored volunteer registry which helps match researchers and volunteers. NCH Names New Biostatistics Director Nationwide Children's Hospital's New Biostatistics Director, Igor Dvorchik, PhD, brings experience in outcome and medical-decision-making.
Igor Dvorchik, PhD, has joined Nationwide Children's Hospital as director of Biostatistics.
Modern biology often relies greatly on the science of biostatistics and its ability to direct experimental design, and collect, summarize and analyze scientific data.
Dr. Dvorchik's first priority will be to develop Nationwide Children's Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR), a service-oriented statistical unit available to all Nationwide Children's investigators and physician scientists.

NCATS Catalyzing Innovation Newsletter
NCATS unveiled its "Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules" initiative.
"Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules" will match researchers with more than 20 molecular compounds from Pfizer Inc., AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly and Company to help scientists explore new treatments for patients.
This innovative and collaborative initiative is open to all interested companies and could serve as a model for similar collaborations among government, biomedical research organizations and industry.

CER Summer Program 2012 The 13th Annual Summer Program presents: Methods in Comparative Effectiveness Research
Dr. Paul Hebert returns to Ohio State to share a dynamic curriculum in Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) for clinician researchers seeking to expand their analytic skills. This course will describe the theory and practice of comparative effectiveness research using observational data, with a focus on large administrative databases such as Medicare data. Faculty / Staff Highlight Angela Brown, PhD
The Ohio State University's Center for Clinical and Transitional Science awarded Angela Brown, PhD, with a pilot award for her research involving pediatric visual contrast sensitivity tests. Brown's goal is to develop a method for eye doctors to measure contrast sensitivity in infants, children, multiple-handicapped patients, and anyone else who cannot read and report the letters on an eye chart.
