RFA: Industry Partnership Application Deadline is November 1, 2011, 5pm
The purpose of this RFA is to support research that is in conjunction with an industry partner.
Follow CCTS announcements for news about an upcoming workshop in the Fall of 2011 to learn how to be successful with SBIR/STTR or other industry related grants.

RFA: General Focus Pilot Application Deadline is October 9, 2011, 5pm
The purpose of this RFA is to encourage faculty investigators to address integrated solutions to complex clinical and translational problems.
It is expected that through generation of preliminary data, this funding will facilitate researchers in acquiring extramural support for new and expanded research efforts focusing on functional aspects of disease/health processes or interventions.

RFA: Mentored Research Training Program (TL1) Application deadline is December 14, 2011
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking applicants for the NIH CTSA TL1 Mentored Clinical Research Training Program.
The overall goal of the CCTS TL1 program is to provide trainees with the skills required to develop a career in trans-disciplinary clinical and translational research relevant to human health.

Tools of the Trade 2011 The CCTS announces the return of "Tools of the Trade" on Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Ohio Union Cartoon Room. Tools of the Trade is designed for all levels of investigators, especially early career researchers. Topics for this year's event are all new.

Ohio-Based CTSAs Expand Consumer Website Netwellness adds a Research Center portal
Three Ohio CTSA institutions, Case Western University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati, added a Research Center portal to their Netwellness website that provides medical information to the public.
The new portal is intended to make biomedical research understandable and transparent to consumers.

New Regional Consortium Comes Together The Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN) is committed to addressing the significant health challenges and disparities specific to Appalachia.
The ATRN addresses the challenges of this region by enhancing research collaborations to speed the translation of scientific discoveries to health improvements for this region.
Currently composed of eight partners, including The Ohio State University CCTS, the ATRN seeks to foster Community Engagement and Outreach to those in the Appalachian region. In addition, the ATRN will serve as a conduit for enhancing T1 research collaborations in areas relevant to the chronic health conditions prevalent in Appalachia.

Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Biomedical Clinical and Translational Science (GISBCTS)
The graduate interdisciplinary specialization (GIS) provides graduate students with access to interdisciplinary study and provides formal recognition of such study on the student's transcript. A graduate interdisciplinary specialization involves two or more graduate programs outside the student's major graduate program. Learn more |

Faculty / Staff Highlight Dr. Savita Khanna
The OSU Center for Clinical and Translational Science has awarded Savita Khanna, PhD with a pilot grant for her research involving the role of glutamate in brain injury.
Khanna's research focuses on examining how supplemental oxygen therapy can protect neurons during stroke and other brain trauma. Read more

Featured CCTS Services / Resources Informed Consent Document Service The CCTS offers an informed consent document service for OSU investigator-initiated studies. Services include hands-on drafting and editing of consent documents in preparation for IRB submission. Template language for various procedures and their known risks is also available.
This service can be accessed by using the CCTS Research Resource Request Form.
