RFA: Multi-Track Collaborative Pilot Application deadline is October 2, 2011, 5pm
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is pleased to announce a collaborative multi-track pilot RFA. The CCTS Pilot and Collaborative Studies Program aims to create translational integrated research teams across the OSU Health Sciences.
As a result, the CCTS is partnering with colleges and Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) to offer targeted RFAs in the areas of allied medical professions, child health, dentistry, nursing, pediatric optometry, pharmacy, social work and veterinary science.

CCTS Recruitment Office Launches 293-HERO CCTS has a new customer service line to help potential research study volunteers in the community connect with studies Callers to the 293-HERO line will receive information about the various ways that they can connect with research studies, including registering with ResearchMatch and checking StudySearch.

CCTS Call for Mentors The Center for Clinical and Translational Science is seeking nominations for its Mentorship Advisory Group.
The Mentorship Advisory Group will advise both mentors and protégés throughout the University as to mentorship best practices, serve as a mediating body to resolve challenges that may arise in the mentorship relationship, and to aid protégés in networking and identifying additional mentors that may be required as their careers and programs of investigation evolve. If you have been in a rewarding mentorship relationship, know a colleague who's expertise would benefit the group, or if you have a passion for developing protégés, consider a nomination to the CCTS Mentorship Advisory Group. 2011 TL1 Awards Announced The OSU Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) welcomed its fourth group of TL1 Mentored Research Training awardees who began their research and training on July 1, 2011.
Each award provides clinical and translational research training and career development, stipend, research and travel expenses, and tuition awards. In addition, the CCTS will offer the awardees support services to further advance their clinical/translational research careers. Awardees have a team of mentors to help guide them through their research projects.

Summer Research Experience Program Once Again a Success SREP has second successful summer, implements career workshops
The Summer Research Experience Program (SREP), hosted by the Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science (OSU CCTS) and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, wrapped up its third and final year on Thursday, July 28th with a poster session.
Ten students from Columbus City Schools' Eastmoor Academy and Northland High School participated in the seven-week long program. The participants, all of whom are exposed to biomedical curriculum at their schools, were matched with an investigator based on their area of interest. Participants participated in research across The Ohio State University campus and COSI.

NCH Clinical Research Conference 2011 The Clinical Research Continuum: Achieving a Balance Between Scientific Success, Ethics and Regulatory Requirements
Whether you are starting from scratch with your research idea or need help taking your established study to the next level, the 2011 Clinical Research Conference has something for you. Participants will hear from nationally recognized speakers from the FDA and NIH and will be able to choose between Ethics and Regulatory tracks.

Personalized Health Care Conference 2011 Registration for the Conference is Now Open
The annual Personalized Health Care National Conference will now be renamed the Johanna and Ralph DeStefano Personalized Health Care Conference thanks to the support of the DeStefano Family.
The conference will bring together academic leaders, industry experts, government policy makers and healthcare providers from around the nation to discuss the latest developments in personalized medicine research and the challenges of translating these discoveries into clinical practice.
To raise awareness of P4 Medicine within the OSUMC research community, the Center for Personalized Health Care is asking for submissions of artistic science images for a competition to be held during the Personalized Health Care Conference, October 6-7th. Faculty / Staff Highlight Dr. Hamdy Elsayed-Awad
The Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science has awarded Hamdy Elsayed-Awad, MD, a pilot grant for his research involving local anesthetics and wound healing. The CCTS pilot grant is in conjunction with the Richard P. and Marie R. Bremer Medical Research Fund and William H. Davis Endowment. Read more

In June there were 1388 unique visitors to the site. See StudySearch or contact ccts-regulation@osumc.edu to post a study.
CCTS DSMB: Beginning September 2011, the CCTS will host a Data & Safety Monitoring Board. This is to help provide OSU research teams access a data and safety board for independent oversight of human subject research studies that do not otherwise have a Board to whom they are required to report. For further information contact ccts-regulation@osumc.edu.
