Greetings!

We're very grateful for the support that we've received from so many people in bringing "The Response" to audiences across the country (and around the world!) in recent months!

We wanted to update all of you on our participation in the ABA's Law Day events in May, as well as tell you about an exciting event in which "The Response" will be featured in August (see below).

We're currently very active doing outreach to set up screenings for the 2011-12 academic year.  Do you have ideas for a screening of "The Response" in your area?  If so, please email us and let's talk about how we can work together!

Again, sincere thanks from both of us, as well as from the full cast and everyone else involved in "The Response"!

Best regards,

Law DayLaw Day 2011 - "The Response" in Nevada

On May 5, 2011, "The Response" was screened across the state of Nevada, in conjunction with National Law Day, sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA). The theme of Law Day 2011 was "The Legacy of John Adams: From Boston to Guantanamo."

The event included participation by judges, lawyers, and, most importantly, students in multiple locations across the state, all connected via web conference.  Sig participated via web hookup from DC.  "The Response" was screened, followed by extensive discussion and many, many probing questions from students.

The event was followed by a great review -- see Steve Sebelius' article about Nevada's Law Day 2011 screening of "The Response."  KNPR, the Nevada Public Radio station in Las Vegas, also provided coverage of Law Day Live during their "State of Nevada" show on Wednesday, May 4.

Law Day 2011 is a great example of one of our fundamental goals for "The Response" - to engage our country's future leaders in a conversation about how legal rights and due process can and should be upheld in an increasingly complicated world.

Nuremburg"The Response" goes to Chautauqua

We're honored to have been invited to screen "The Response" as the opening event for the 5th Annual International Humanitarian Law Dialogs, which will be held at Chautauqua Institution on August 28-30, 2011. The symposium, featuring the former Chief Prosecutors of U.N. International Tribunals and global legal scholars, will focus on the theme, Widespread and Systematic--Crimes Against Humanity in the Shadow of Modern International Criminal Law.

The dialogs are hosted by the Robert H. Jackson Center, which is dedicated to the life, words, work and legacy of Robert H. Jackson, the architect of the international trial process and then the chief prosecutor of the surviving Nazi leaders at Nuremberg, Germany. The dialogs are a gathering of academics, human rights activists, and those involved in both previous and ongoing international tribunals and trials at the International Criminal Court.

The screening of "The Response" is scheduled for August 28, 2011. Sig Libowitz and Peter Riegert will be present and will be featured in the post-screening discussion panel.  More information, a schedule of events, list of prosecutors and speakers, and more will be posted on our website as it becomes available. If you have questions in the meantime, please call the Robert H. Jackson Center directly at 716-483-6646 or e-mail info@roberthjackson.org .
