| Greetings from CEO Doug Armstrong
We would like to welcome you to the first edition of our newsletter. The idea to create North Star Reach is more than five years old but progress in the last six months has moved us much closer to reality. Since September 2010, we have added six members to our board of directors, formed fund raising committees, finished our phase I building plans, received preliminary site plan and special use permit approvals from Unadilla Township and created our own web site. We are working to raise the $15 Million necessary to build and operate the new camp and we plan to begin construction in 2012.
We are pleased to be partnering with the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Hospital and other pediatric centers around the state of Michigan and cities of Chicago and Toronto to create a special refuge for children touched by serious medical challenges.
A camp experience fosters the development of self-esteem, self-confidence and independence for any child who attends. These skills are extra important for children who have been beset by serious illness or disease. I have not found anything that provides as much satisfaction as helping these kids forget about their challenges for a week and "just be a kid at camp". Your support will ensure that our momentum is sustained and that we can welcome campers into our new facility in fall 2012.

Sustainable Camp North Star Reach is currently evaluating building systems in order to find a cost-effective, environmentally friendly ("Green") and sustainable option. Systems under consideration utilize sustainable building materials, ultra-efficient insulation, low maintenance and durable surfaces and low consumption lighting, appliance and plumbing fixtures. We are striving to "fit into the land" and preserve the beautiful natural setting at the camp property. We also plan to educate campers, staff and visitors about our sustainability efforts. |

Thank You

Pinckney Boy Scout Troop #312 Eagle Scout candidate Scott McColl (Far Left) recently completed his service project on behalf of North Star Reach. Scott spent the winter crafting eight Leopold Style benches and a "carpet ball table" and delivered them to camp on January 16, 2011. The benches and the table will provide hours of fun for campers and staff for many years to come. We would like to recognize and thank Scott for his excellent craftsmanship and for his lasting contribution to our camp.
