Working as a therapist managing dental phobia, anxiety and stress symptoms is considered a valuable addition to dental treatments. Patients with anxiety or phobias can be recognised and helped appropriately prior to and during dental treatments as well as aspects of pain management to localised and operative pain. Dental phobia and stress symptom cases will be presented and the subsequent hypnotherapy treatments undertaken discussed. There will be practical demonstrations and material to take back to the therapists practice. Upon completion the therapist will be able to demonstrate the practical uses of hypnotherapy treatment and behavioural tools for dental anxiety and stress symptoms and provide a protocol for building a mutual professional relationship with a dental practice. At the end of the workshop you will be able to: - Provide a protocol for building a mutual professional relationship with a dental practice.
- Appropriate treatments, timetable and measurement for dental anxiety including emetophobia and phagophobia.
- Use Clinical Hypnotherapy as an adjunct to sedation.
- Have the knowledge to refer back to the dentist.
