Windblown Cross Country Skiing

Dear Skiers and Snowshoers,

Fabulous skiing this weekend! Five inches of new snow today plus some sleet and a little rain, then back to snow. We have stayed off the trails today with machinery so as to let any water drain through the snow before it sets up. After grooming in the morning it will be mostly packed powder mixed with a little granular. All trails will be open with a fresh snow surface. Sunny day for Saturday in the mid-twenties, then light snow likely Saturday night and Sunday. Looks like a good weekend to take a lesson. Something wonderful for everyone, including especially great snowshoeing conditions.

What a special winter. Lots of snow in January and early February, then lots of grooming to loosen the granular. Looking ahead I see rapid weather changes from winter then back to spring.  This time of year our high elevation often gives us snow or sleet when it is raining only a few miles away, so keep in mind that what we get here tends to be quite different from your backyard, particularly towards spring.

Here is the link to a nice article in yesterday's Nashua Telegraph that you might enjoy reading. It includes some good photos.

Ski area going from father to son

Ski now, in a few weeks winter could just be a memory.
