Windblown Cross Country Skiing

Windblown Winter Weekly

Volume 11, Number 8

January 21, 2011

Dear Skiers and Snowshoers,

I'm sure you all have beautiful powder snow in your yards and local parks - it's hard not to notice this month has brought lots of snow to southern New England. I doubt I need to tell you that conditions are primo here and not to be missed.

Barrett Mountain across the View Fields

This weekend promises to be fabulous skiing and snowshoeing conditions. We received five inches of powder snow yesterday on top of our 18" to 30" deep base. All the trails are open and groomed. The temperatures will be in the upper 20's on Saturday, mid 20's on Sunday - perfect for keeping the snow a silky powder and for wearing fewer layers. The Cafe will be open with chili, soups and sandwiches, and a good supply of Windblown Cookies!

Moon Light Ski Tour

On Saturday February 12th from 6 to 9 pm join us for Moonlight Skiing and Snowshoeing. If you've never tried gliding in set tracks with just the moon to light the winter woods, you're in for a treat. You can explore on your own or in a guided group. Head lamps are usually not needed unless it's cloudy. Bring your sweetheart and get a free cup of hot chocolate. Adults $14, Juniors $9. Rentals available.

Monadnock Challenge Series:

Arctic Winter Adventure

On Saturday February 26th, beginning at 8:30 am there will be a Run - Snowshoe - Run Race for folks into competition. Go to Arctic Winter Adventure to register online.

A different twist for a triathlon. Fun for racer types, and out of the way of regular tourers.

If it's at all possible for you to get out this weekend, I highly recommend it! Perfect conditions for venturing up on our little mountain or enjoying the easy trails in the valley - your choice.

Cheers,

Irene
