Dear Skiers and Snowshoers,
After the driest summer on record we had one of the longest and most colorful foliage seasons ever. What does the winter look like? No one knows but we do know that Windblown will be ready and open for the 39th year.
Here's what's new: fifty acres of timberstand improvement has opened massive glades on Barrett Mountain and an exciting new black trail named Andy's Plunge; the Wapack Trail has been relocated and more backcountry trails make connections to unique sites; a brand new Ginzu groomer for state-of-the-art snowmobile grooming on the backcountry/snowshoe trails and for setting tracks on the ponds; two new outhouses; the return of skate gear for rent and twenty-eight new sets of classic gear; fifteen pairs of snowshoes; hot soup on weekdays; the return of the Annual Ski Swap; a new website coming soon; and a new trail map!
Not so new but good to know: Kate will be returning to cover the Ski Shop; Gail is returning to serve delicious soups and sandwiches on weekends; Lindsey will coordinate the Bill Koch Club again; Andy and Al plan to keep the trails groomed as immaculate as ever; and Irene will keep you informed.
Here's what's good to know right away: The Warming Hut is available to rent for nights November through March. Saturday nights in January through March are taken but several Friday nights are still open. Mid-week nights are only $60 for a couple. Please read the instructions on the Warming Hut page and give us a call to make a reservation. The Ski Swap will be on Saturday December 4th from 9 am to 11 am. We have 30 sets of used classic gear to sell and encourage you to bring used nordic gear and snowshoes to sell. You will need to be there before noon to take away any gear of yours that didn't sell. The hall in the Base Lodge is available to rent for an event between now until New Years.
We look forward to seeing you again soon,
The Jenks family |
