Windblown Cross Country Skiing

Windblown Winter Weekly

Volume 11, Number 6

January 14, 2011

Dear Skiers and Snowshoers,

We have sweet fresh powder and packed powder skiing for this holiday weekend.

All the trails are opened and all but a couple of steep trails on the upper mountain are groomed. Wednesday's snow storm dropped 15 inches of fluffy powder on our 0 to 6" base. We'll be in full operation this weekend, including Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, with rentals, lessons, full food service and excellent skiing and snowshoeing conditions. On Saturday night we may get a dusting to 2" of snow to refresh it all. Winter is in full swing.

The Windblown Bill Koch Youth Ski League will be meeting for the first practice of the season on Sunday from 1 pm to 2:30. It's a great opportunity to get your kids into cross country skiing. It's fun and games on skis with other kids and parents every Sunday afternoon. See details at Bill Koch Club

A friendly reminder to those of you new to skiing at groomed ski areas - It's very important that you do not walk on the groomed trails. It takes many hours to prepare them and footprints are dangerous to skiers. If you find yourself on a trail that is too much of a challenge, please turn around and go back to a green, easy trail. If you must walk, please stay on the far right edge, off of the set tracks. Thank you. Hundreds of skiers will appreciate your courtesy!

Hopefully this is only the beginning of a long winter of great powder skiing, but nothing is guaranteed, these great conditions could be short lived. Time to get out!

I hope to see you on the trails - I'll be the one with a camera attempting to capture the essence of Windblown to share with you. So far my photos are most easily viewed on our FaceBook page but I am working on getting them on our NEW website.

Happy Trails,

Irene
