A quick and easy way to update your home is tastefully displaying your favorite accessories on flat surfaces. Easy, right?
The trick comes when we have large collections that we want to share with the world. I am a collector of Montana Silversmith's Elmer figurines. I love Elmer, but he is always that same boring color and size. My collection becomes dull in a hurry. Are you guilty of this?
This week I am going to share with you five tips for tastefully arranging your accessories in your home (also known as creating a table vignette or a tablescape).
Tip 1: Group your accessories in odd groups. Think in groups of three and five instead of two, four and six. Adding an odd element stimulates your brain, making the collection much more exciting!
Tip 2: Choose items that are similar in one dimension and different in at least one dimension. For example, choose three vases in different colors, textures, and sizes. Another example is to choose three accessories that all have a splash of turquoise, but one is a lamp, one is a floral display, and one is a picture.
