Cowboy Hat Etiquette
In our last newsletter, we talked about proper care for your cowboy hat. In the last part of our series on cowboy hats, we talk about the proper etiquette that surrounds wearing your cowboy hat.
When To Take Off Your Hat
-When being introduced to someone
-Saying good-bye
-When the National Anthem is being played
-when the flag is passing by
-At a burial or a passing funeral procession
Always take off your hat when indoors, except in entrance halls or corridors.
Always take off your cowboy hat when eating, unless there is not a safe place to put your hat.
Don't ask to touch or wear another man's hat. A cowboy hat is a very personal piece of clothing. Most cowboys take great pride in their hats.

It is considered to be 7 years bad luck to put your hat on the bed!
In the Old West, it was considered rude to tip your hat to another man. It was thought you were calling him a "woman" and could result in a broken jaw.
Now all of these rules may not fit every situation, but use your best judgement as not to offend anyone.
