Mountain Modern: The Arrangment

The Arrangement has added a new wrinkle to its already varied assortment--introducing "Mountain Modern." A response to the new cleaner, greener architecture of today, Mountain Modern is a collection of tables, case goods, and upholstery that reflects this new aesthetic.
Reclaimed barn wood is fashioned into dining tables, occasional tables, and beds that are clean-lined and simple. The store's wonderful distressed leathers are applied to track-arm chairs and sofas--a modern look that doesn't sacrifice comfort--in the store's trademark chenille fabrics in rich warm hues. Designed for the new rustic home or in-town loft, The Arrangement looks for Mountain Modern to make its mark in the coming months. Mountain Modern is just one aesthetic of many The Arrangement has to offer. The store searches the world over for its unique blend of elegant rustic furniture. In addition to rustic and Western pieces, The Arrangement offers looks that accommodate Spanish Colonial, classic Southwest, a touch of Tuscany, and--of course--Mountain Modern. You don't have to own a ranch to live like it! |

Lost Art--Still Alive: Chuck's Woodbarn

Wood chests and trunks are perhaps the most universal and enduring form of furniture. They have been with us throughout recorded time, not only holding history, but valued possessions. From the most simple wooden box to an extravagant limited edition trunk--once a piece is in your family, it will always be a valued heirloom.
Chuck's Woodbarn is owned and operated by Charlie and Sherry Zeller, both of whom specialize in the lost art of steam-bending wood to create beautiful hand crafted trunks and wood chests (sometimes also called dome-topped chests or steamer trunks). The Zellers place emphasis on fine craftsmanship and quality construction. The two personally design and construct everything, from beginning jigs to finishing interiors.
Read more about how the trunks are constructed here.

Chuck's Woodbarn also makes military chests, treasure chests, quilt chests, and bridal chests. Other unique items include wooden hat boxes, coffee tables, end tables, TV cabinets, wine carriers, wall crosses, and boot jacks. Custom orders are also welcome, so send them your idea, and they can build it especially for you.
It gives Chuck's Woodbarn great pleasure to create a piece of furniture that will be a valued family possession for many generations to come. Contact them today and visit the store's Facebook page to find your own trunk to hold both your possessions and memories.

Cowboy Furniture: Andy and Aaron Sanchez

Andy and Aaron Sanchez are award-winning, Western cowboy furniture artists. Their studio is located near Santa Fe, New Mexico; however, their work can be found throughout the world. The artists' work is featured in several galleries, including Harrods of London and the Patrick Mavros Gallery in London, where it has received compliments from the Queen herself.
For the past 20 years, Andy and Aaron have been creating original works of art. But what makes them different? The artists have completely redefined the way furniture is designed and built.
Instead of going with the more traditional route of designing, and then getting the wood to fit the design, Andy and Aaron will first begin by going outside where they keep many various logs and slabs of wood. This is where the design process begins--completely led by the wood. They do not use wood to fit their design, but let the wood design the piece.
"We only use dead-standing (totally dead tree that is upright or fallen) wood for our furniture. The wood that is harvested for us has been dead for approximately 60 years or more. This ensures that it is well cured and stable," explain the artists.
Andy and Aaron's innovative approach to furniture design has been copied by many other wood workers, but Andy and his sons bring an artistic talent and originality which makes their work excel and increase in value year after year. Without the careful consideration of the wood and its personality, it is impossible to create a work of art that is completely unified. It is only after understanding the wood, that it is possible to match it with its stones.
"It is easy to make nature work for us, but few will take the time to work with nature," say the artists. "It is not our intention to change what God has created to fit our needs, but rather to enjoy and appreciate what has already been provided for us in nature."
Andy and Aaron's goal for their furniture is two-fold. Their desire is to create heirloom pieces that will last for generations, and to artistically display the beauty within nature, preserving the natural beauty of the wood, and causing the spirit within man to be in awe of God's creation.

Yankee Craftsmanship: Silver Mountain Furniture Co.

Yankee Craftsmanship--that is the best way to describe the work of Jerry Brown and the rocking chairs that are hand-crafted in Westcliffe, Colorado at Silver Mountain Furniture Co. Former long-time New Hampshire residents Jerry and Sandy Brown made the move to Colorado in 2000, where they now operate a 45-acre ranch at the base of the magnificent Sangre de Cristo mountains. In fact, this mountain chain is the inspiration for the model names of the rocking chairs; each chair is named after a peak. Though many pieces of custom furniture are produced, the main focus of Silver Mountain Furniture Co. is on rocking chairs. Jerry decided to design a chair that has true back support without using spindles, which are prone to breaking. He also developed a lumbar support feature that can be easily adjusted or removed. This support feature has been endorsed by chiropractors and can be incorporated into any model of chair offered. Each chair is made of solid hardwood and is finished in its natural color--no stains are used. Proudly handcrafted in the USA, the Silver Mountain Furniture Co. has incredible pieces that will surely become heirlooms to be passed down for generations.
