Boot Baby Ranch
Where Little Buckaroos Can Get "Duded" Up
Just like the kids that wear them, western hats come in all shapes and sizes. Tall crown, short crown, big brim, short brim, Gus crease, cattleman crease, brick top crease, or no crease at all. Just the shape of the hat can define a personality or a trade. Cowboys and those who love cowboy life enjoy wearing a hat to "top" off the look of an outfit. Not only does a hat function as shade to protect against the bright sun, but it gives the wearer a sense of confidence that no other accessory can do. Hats are made from a variety of materials that are worn according to the seasons, just like we consider other clothing to be worn during the appropriate seasons.
Felt hats come in all colors, and black is especially popular. Someone considering a felt hat will find them in all sorts of price ranges, too, depending on the quality of the felt. For the hotter seasons, straws and palm leaf hats can be found providing shade on many heads, small and tall.
With the western industry pushing forward to crossover into a variety of styles, hats are available on most main streets, in feed stores, hardware stores, convenience stores, flea markets, and online. For parents, it is a right of passage to buy the first hat that their little cowpoke will be donning, even if it's just for a picture. Boot Baby Ranch will begin carrying straw and felt hats this holiday season! You can shop TheWesternVault.com, and be sure to find them on FaceBook for the latest arrivals at Boot Baby Ranch, along with special contests and tidbits from the ranch!

OUR OWN GALA NETTLES RELEASES HER NEWEST BOOK- SMART LITTLE LENA, THE GRAND SLAM YEARS!
Smart Little Lena, the Grand Slam Years, a 235-page coffee table edition featuring the show years of the great stallion Smart Little Lena and those intertwined in his life, will debut November 15, just in time for Christmas. Written by well-known author and columnist Gala Nettles, the book has numerous never-before-seen photographs and stories guaranteed to make you smile, and perhaps, even shed a tear.
Smart Little Lena was the first stallion to win the coveted National Cutting Horse Association Triple Crown. He then later added another exceptional championship to that list, making it a grand slam for the Quarter Horse stallion. His quick draw movements sucked many a cow into a trap and always brought screaming crowds to their feet.
While these riveting performances made him a champion, it was his riotous personality that made him appealing. The great stallion chased butterflies, played with Gismo, a Jack Russell Terrier, spooked like a weenie at surprises, and if he could catch his rider unaware, might toss in a little bucking for entertainment.
In honor of this coffee table edition's debut, all orders of Smart Little Lena, the Grand Slam Years placed before November 10 receive free shipping! And, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the NCHA Futurity, Gala offers a priceless 3-for-1 package for history buffs and those interested in learning the art of cutting. She and Bill Freeman, trainer of Smart Little Lena, partnered several years ago on the book Bill Freeman: Training the Horse and Rider- the best cutting instructional book on the market. She later wrote Fame & Glory, the First Decade of NCHA Futurities, a gold mine of equine history about the birth of the Futurity and how it struggled to become a first-class event. Coupled with Smart Little Lena, the Grand Slam Years, these 3 books are available through December 31- or until the limited supply runs out- for a remarkable price of $89.95 plus shipping!
Smart Little Lena, The Grand Slam Years is the 17th book for Gala. Besides also pinning columns and articles for numerous magazines, she is married to cutting horse trainer and Hall of Famer Ronnie Nettles, and lives daily amid the rich field in which Smart Little Lena succeeded. To order your books call 936-348-6541 or 800-729-2234. Don't forget to request that your copies be autographed!
