South Texas Saddlery
All Your Gifting Needs Taken Care Of

Welcome South Texas Saddlery- a small boutique owned by two, local ranch-owners who have a serious love of leather, hunting, and western style living in San Antonio, Texas. Their store evolved from one question: What do you get the person who has everything?
Facing this question in their personal and professional lives, they saw an opportunity: provide busy professionals with high quality, unique gift-items at affordable prices. Soon after, South Texas Saddlery was born.
South Texas Saddlery's mission is to minimize the risk involved in the gift giving process as much as possible! They do this by providing high quality, handmade leather goods in a variety of price points, and by offering customers complimentary monogramming options. Before they create a new product, they ask themselves two questions: Is it practical? And, is it unusual? If they can't answer a unanimous yes to both questions, they don't make it.
What does this mean for you? This means coming to a one-stop shop (store-front or virtual) and having all your gifting needs taken care of! Let them help you select the perfect leather or canvas gift for the person in your life. They'll even work with you to make special customizations to existing items when possible. Also, enjoy complimentary monogramming of up to three initials and complimentary gift-wrapping services. Be sure to check out their inventory on The Western Vault to get 20% OFF for Father's Day!

Midwest Buggy
Bringing Rich American History Back to Life with Each Wagon Restoration

Midwest Buggy is the home of wagon restoration specialist, Kathy Christensen. With over 20 years of experience, Kathy invites you to return to simpler times when sheep herding and chuck wagons provided the weary traveler with all the necessities of home. Each restoration brings rich American history back to life for another generation to enjoy.
It is said that in 1866, Charles Goodnight needed a way to keep his cowboys fed as they moved cattle. He bought and converted an old army wagon, so that a box was fashioned to the back of the wagon. It was engineered to fold out into a portable workstation for the cook. By doing so, cooks were able to prepare their "chuck", or food, on the road. This simple contraption revolutionized the cowboy way of life.
If a wagon restoration isn't enough, some of Midwest Buggy's authentic chuck wagon catering will do the trick. Delicious plates of authentic chuck wagon cooking will take your taste buds back to simpler times of barbeque, beans, and cobbler. To top it off, Midwest Buggy sells its award winning barbeque sauce that is sure to challenge any sauce on the market!

Antiques on 8
Preserving the Artifacts That Are a Testament to Our Culture

Antiques on 8 is Houston's newest and most exciting antiques neighborhood. It exists for the mutual benefit of Houston's antiques community: owners of antiques, antiques dealers, and their patrons, design professionals, and, finally, for the antiques themselves. Antiques on 8 is not a flea market nor an outlet for reproductions. It's a place to see and learn about antiques that offers the opportunity to take ownership of, and responsibility for, the preservation of artifacts that are a testament to our culture and our civilization.
They believe that antiques are ours to enjoy and care for today, a way to honor the past, but also a treasure to preserve for the future. This ethos is reflected by what their dealers sell and how they view their mission. As antique enthusiasts first and foremost, they devote their time and centuries of combined experience to a search for things worth owning. The fruits of this labor of love are at Antiques on 8 to enrich your life. Explore their acre of antiques under one roof- from furniture, lighting, art, glass, paintings, and oriental rugs to clocks and watches, jewelry, silver, scientific and musical instruments, tools, western paraphernalia, clothing, Civil War era relics and other militaria, Americana, and decorative objects of incredible variety. Learn from their exhibits, share knowledge with their dealers and gain a better understanding of our joint heritage. Expand a collection or start one. Furnish your home or office with items that reflect a unique personality and that tend, with time, to increase in value. Get expert advice on care and maintenance of your antiques or bring your patient to our in-house repair center. Sample Mary Ann's 3rd generation family recipes or take home a homemade dessert. View old in a whole new way!

Supreme Cowgirl Challenge
Benefiting the Curing Children's Cancer Fund
The Supreme Cowgirl Foundation, and all of our Western Vault members that were involved would like to thank all those who made the 2011 Supreme Cowgirl Challenge such a great event. Jason Cook, of Broken J Equine Services, Michelle Crite, of Red Star Riggings, and Linda Galayda, of The Western Vault, all supported the event and contributed to making it a huge success.
I talked to Linda about competing in the event this year. Here is what she had to say. "The Supreme Cowgirl event was great! We had five events: 1) to pen cattle 2) a natural trail and obstacle course 3) arena trail 4) a pony express relay 5) leggings relay. Each event had its moments. On the natural trail, two riders' horses did not want to go down a steep embankment and through the mud at the bottom. As a result, both riders and horses went down. One of the riders was on our team. She broke her arm - but in true Cowgirl grit - she finished the competition! I was riding a 3-year-old, and I was so proud of his performance. He did very well for a young horse- refused nothing and completed everything. His errors were really rider errors- Ha!"
Be sure to check out all of the pictures from the event here!

DesignAmerica- Texas
Bold. Brilliant. Beautiful.
For three days, May 6-8, 2011, the Gaylord Texan Convention Center played host to an exhibit and sale of America's finest independent artisans and designers. Even the exhibitors themselves were in awe of their fellow artisans. The most heard comment throughout the weekend was "the best in the country are finally all here together", and indeed they were. From the finest leather designers, fashion designers, furniture designers, jewelry designers, and sculptors, each one was a master at their craft and at the top of their game. The event opened with Astonishment! The Preview Gala. The centerpiece of the evening was the incredible fashion event where 40 looks took their turns on the runway showcasing the amazing fashions accented and dripping with stunning jewelry and the finest leather accessories. Hosted by Kadee Coffman of RFD-TV and orchestrated by Christin Miller of Maverick Design and Marketing and Fashion Expert Jef Hereque, the crowd stood in applause as the final model made her turn.
The evening continued with shopping from, and meeting, all of the incredible creative minds that filled the room. Bold, brilliant, and beautiful- no one who attended had ever seen anything like this before- all in one place, all the best in the world. DesignAmerica Foundation wishes to thank all of the incredible exhibitors for participating. Their works are unparalleled and truly astonishing. They are very excited about their next event being held in conjunction with the Harley-Davidson Museum and Annual Custom Bike Show over Labor Day Weekend in Milwaukee. Texas Music Chart
Your Guide to Texas and Red Dirt Music
The Texas Music Chart hasn't seen much new action in the past few weeks. Now, it seems, radio is reviving some songs which appeared to be losing ground. Last week, it was Ryan Beaver with "For A While," and this week, Bleu Edmondson gets the love. His single "Blood Red Lincoln" shows an airplay increase of 73 more spins.
The Eli Young Band still holds the top spot on the Chart with "Crazy Girl," and Reckless Kelly has taken over the #2 position with "I Hold the Bottle, You Hold the Wheel." Max Stalling and "Long Way to Get," Deryl Dodd and "You're Not Lookin' For," and Brandon Rhyder with "Lord, I Hope This Day is Good" round out the top 5.
"You Can Have Me" by Phil Hamilton debuts on the Chart at #46 this week with an impressive gain of 96 plays from two weeks ago, and Zane Williams shows up at #48 with "Ride With Me." Click here to see who else made the chart this week!
