Great Blue Heron Furniture Company has been in business since 1992 as a high end western furniture and accessory company. Currently, Mathew Tammen owns and runs the business that was started by his Father, Fred Tammen. Their goal is to set the standard in quality and in design for the western and lodge furniture market. Normally, their furniture tends to be classically styled frame designs upholstered with a combination of the rich, enduring colors of oiled or wax finish leathers, embossed leathers, and "hair-on" hides.

The Great Blue Heron proudly manufactures all of
their upholstered furniture right here in Texas. They truly offer the highest quality furniture in the industry by sourcing leathers and hides from all over the world and going to great lengths to procure only the highest quality leathers. All their leathers are full grain, and all their hair-on hides are tanned in Brazil at a tannery that is widely recognized as the best tannery of its type in the world.

The Great Blue Heron is primarily a custom furniture builder, and the pieces shown on the website are just some of their most popular configurations. Five years ago, Jennifer and Bryden Becker left their swank New York City apartment with a postcard view of the Empire State Building for a two-story house in Stilwell, Kansas, a southern Kansas City suburb with an established horse community nearby. They wanted a

lifestyle that was more West than Upper East Side, and they wanted a business of their own. After making the move, the Beckers spent the next five months traveling to home and fashion markets in New York, Denver, Dallas, and Los Angeles. While Bryden commuted each week from Kansas City to New York and continued working as a senior vice-president for a corporate event planning and marketing company, Jennifer oversaw the renovation of a two-story building that would house 4,000 square feet of retail space. In October of 2005, Will Wyatt's Cowboy Couture opened its doors, and the two haven't looked back.

Will Wyatt's Cowboy Couture aims to show people how broad the western lifestyle is. Bryden says, "A man dressed in a pinstripe suit with an alligator belt and Clint Orms buckle, Lucchese American alligator boots, and a 100% beaver hat from the American Hat Company can be every bit as impressive, and even more so, than the same man in a suit accessorized with the usual hardware." According to Jennifer, "Our focus is on finding designers and lines that are one-of-a-kind, custom, or are done exclusively for us. We want the store to be a destination, and we are always stocking new merchandise to make sure that even regular customers have a fresh experience every time they visit."
