March 5th The Alamo 175th Anniversary Celebration www.thealamo.org


You really don't want to miss this commemorative event which will include a performance by Phil Collins, The San Antonio Symphony and via satellite, Ricky Scaggs & George Strait.  At dawn there will be a battle re-enactment of the siege and don't forget to visit the San Fernando Cathedral if you're truly a history buff.

Another great not-to-be-missed shopping event.  Although not as large as the Denver Market, you can do some serious damage here.  The Dallas Market boasts 50 markets (including the Western Market) each year, Retailers for all 50 states and 78 countries source products conduct over $8 billion in annual transactions.

Another walk down memory lane...who doesn't remember Roy Rogers, Trigger & Bullet??

The RFD TV Trigger & Bullet Happy Trails Tour started in Las Vegas this past December and will end January 2012 at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.  Check out the above website for a list of all the tour locations as well as sign up to become a member of the Roy Rogers Riders Club.

The annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration is one of the modern West's most exciting explorations into the traditions of the American Frontier. Your attention will be captured by poetry, music, stories, panel discussions, exhibits and trappings by and about the American Cowboy. Sept 14-17 Pendleton Rodeo - "Let'er Buck", www.pendletonroundup.com

The first Pendleton Round-Up was to be "a frontier exhibition of picturesque pastimes, Indian and military spectacles, cowboy racing and bronco busting for the championship of the Northwest." It turned out to be that and more.


For the initial show, all stores closed "The largest crowd in Pendleton's history," 7,000 strong, showed up for the first show on September 29, 1910. Grow it did. Two decades later, patrons showed up from 36 states and eight foreign countries.     Attendance has now reached 50,000 or more for the four-day show.

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is the only museum in the world dedicated to honoring and celebrating women, past and present, whose lives exemplify the courage, resilience and independence that helped shape the American West.   Today, nearly 200 extraordinary women have been inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame since 1975.

Dec 1 - 10 NFR Rodeo Finals - Las Vegas

Cowboys from all across the U.S. and Canada work all year in hopes of qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo( NFR), the PRCA's premier championship, sometimes referred to as the "Superbowl of Rodeos".


The NFR is held each December in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The top 15 regular-season finishers in each event qualify for the NFR and compete for prize money. In December, 2001, this prize money exceeded $4.5 million.

The NFR features the Top 15 competitors in each of professional rodeo's seven events: saddle bronc riding, bull riding, bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.
