April Season Closure - Almost Summer?
So here we are, the end of another winter season. It’s flown by hasn’t it! In December there were reports of no snow and then in January there was too much snow. The poor white stuff just couldn’t win! It’s ended up being a truly great season however, both in terms of snow fall and the results we have achieved for our clients. Swatch Shoot My Ride has been a huge success once again, our sponsored ski schools have gained more visibility than ever before and we have been an integral part of one of the best alpine automotive campaigns in recent years. MediaMountain truly has delivered campaigns that our clients can be proud of.
In this month’s newsletter we have our final winter round up for you all. News of snow fall (still, believe it or not!), WiFi in lifts (so now there’s no excuse not to reply to those emails), the full video from the inaugural Red Bull Supernatural event and of course, much much more to keep you from doing your work.
Before we sign off however, there is just time for us to answer the one question we keep hearing: ‘What do MediaMountain do now that the snow is melting? Do you just sit around and wait for the snow to start falling again?’ Well no, quite the opposite actually! Our focus now turns to the summer and the array of outdoor possibilities that the mountains bring at this fantastic time of year. The vast areas to go rock climbing and mountain biking entice a huge audience to the European Alps and we are perfectly placed once more to help you reach them. Want to know more? Well just scroll on down to our Summer/Winter Package teaser.
Here’s to the summer! |

Swatch Shoot My Ride 2.0 - A Huge Succes!
Social networks, HD movies, WiFi Hotspots, Chill-Out Zones and Airbag Jumps. The Swatch Shoot My Ride experience has once again been a great success and surpassed users expectations.
Having run our award winning ShootMyRide system for the past three years, it was time to for an upgrade. So, once again, in partnership with Swatch we brought Swatch ShootMyRide 2.0 HD to the mountains.
This season SMR 2.0 HD was 100% Social Media enabled, meaning that it was possible to download movies within minutes to mobile phones and then share them across all social networks. No need to worry about expensive data usage charges either, as we created special chill-out areas with free WiFi (and they proved very popular!).
Besides the Social Media integration, the system also produced movies in HD including slow motion playback to help users analyse their jumps. The Airbags across all parks took care of the landings and their bright presence on the mountains turned each SMR area into a real attraction.
On busy days, the system processed more than 500 jumps in each of the 5 parks with our systems running double-time to render HD versions of each movie. The hard work has all been worthwhile though, as the amount of downloaded movies increased over 500% compared to SMR 1.0. Well, who doesn’t like to look at themselves in HD?!?
Keep an eye on our Facebook page - we'll be dropping some hot winter campaign shots soon!

Dutchweek Val Tho
|
 |
Years ago, fun-loving Dutch people decided to extend their annual Queensday (April 30th) into a full ski/party week. With more and more non-Dutch visitors joining in, Val Thorens was all too happy to keep lifts running an extra week till the 5th of May, enabling some serious snow-rocking!
Just have a look at this! |
