2012 Miss Hough Carrousel Scholarship Program
Submitted by Gina Story
Last night at the varsity football game, we introduced three of W.A. Hough's finest young women; each a finalist in the 2012 Miss Hough Carrousel Competition.
In 1967, the Carrousel Queens Scholarship Program was instituted to recognize outstanding students in the Charlotte region. Today, 60 area high schools are invited to participate by selecting a senior girl to represent their school and compete in November for the title of
Miss Carrousel Queen held in Charlotte. This title awards its winner a $3000 academic scholarship! After a rigorous application process and grilling personal interviews, our 10 contestants were narrowed down to three finalists. They were:
Miss Hollie Brown, Miss Jessica Surane and Miss Eileen Jakeway
All of these young ladies are truly deserving of representing Hough High School in Charlotte, however, there could only be one representative.
The 2012 Miss Hough title went to Miss Eileen Jakeway.
First runner-up is Miss Jessica Surane and the second runner-up is Miss Hollie Brown.
Don't forget to look for Miss Jakeway in the 2012 Belk Thanksgiving Day Parade in Uptown Charlotte!
Good Luck Eileen!! HUSKIES Pride!!

PTSA Update
As of today, we are just over half way to our goal of $17,000. The Huskies Fund is our primary fundraiser and with a donation of $20 from every family, the PTSA will be able to continue to provide the great programs and classroom support for our Huskies without adding fundraisers! Huskies Fund Contribution Form
Our membership goal this year is 900 memberships. We are currently only half way to our goal. Joining the PTSA does not require you to volunteer or to attend meetings. However, by joining you are showing your support of the PTSA. We also encourage students to join! PTSA Membership Form
Hough High School PTSA is pleased to partner with our parents for volunteer opportunities at the school. Thank you in advance for supporting your child. We have compiled most of the Volunteer froms that you have turned in and the appropriate committee chair will be contacing you soon. If you did not turn in a PTSA Volutneer form, there is still time. Please return the Volunteer Form to your student's homeroom teacher or PTSA mailbox in the front office.
As always, thank you for your support. |

Please help us fill these positions. We especially need more volunteers to work concessions for the game on this Friday. Working concessions really is a fun way to visit with your friends and neighbors while helping the Athletic Booster Club support Hough athletes! |

Re-Link your VIC Card
to Hough Organizations
Harris Teeter's Together In Education program is a fund raising program for schools in our community. When customers purchase select Harris Teeter Brand products using their VIC card, Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of those purchase dollars to the schools of their choice. We need your support! This is a painless way for us to raise needed funds.
