Happy Holidays from Guard Support!

Our Mission:
Supporting the families left behind during deployment

Family Readiness Group Grants

Family Readiness Group Holiday Party. Guard Support provided FRG funding for
this event. Over 200 children received toys.

Family Readiness Groups help our military families cope with deployment. Our Family Readiness Group (FRG) grants are used to fund FRG support group meetings, troop send-off ceremonies, homecoming celebrations, educational programs and special events for the children.

We provide grants of up to $1,000 for a deployed unit's Family Readiness Group. Since 2007 we have awarded 67 FRG grants to Family Readiness Groups, totaling over $55,000.

Please consider a year-end charitable gift of support to our Guard members and their families this holiday season. Your contribution will support our FRG grant program and other initiatives.

Here are a few testimonials that we have received:

"We are a new FRG and thanks to Guard Support we will be able to focus on our families and getting established within our unit, which is getting ready for deployment. We are so grateful that such a fantastic organization is available as a resource to help us on our journey!"
- Sidra Baranoski, Co-Chair, A Co. 1-181 INF Family Readiness Group

"With loved ones deployed, this grant will help support group functions and kids' activities throughout the holidays as well as help with other projects to sustain the morale of family members. It brings a sense of ease to know that our families have the assistance they need in times of hardship. Thank you for your continuing support to the Soldiers and family members of HHC 3-126th AVN."
- Captain Geoffrey Leonard, Commander, HHC 3-126th Aviation

"The knowledge that our loved ones will be looked after in our absence is as crucial to a unit's morale as food and pay. This grant will help to enable our soldiers to focus on completing the tasks at hand and our ultimate objective to complete the mission and return home safely to our waiting families."
- Captain Christopher Furlong, Company Commander, 379th Engineers Detachment 1 Company

"It's great that Guard Support is there for us and understands the needs of families that are struggling with this deployment. These funds can help us gather together for a number of activities we have planned, including our Christmas party. Thank you for all your support!"
- Lisa Chandler, FRG leader, HHC 3/136th Aviation

"Thanks to Guard Support, the FRG grant will provide vital seed funding for the growth and success of the FRG, helping us to communicate and promote our goals and achievements. I think this is fantastic and great support for our soldiers."
- Captain Nicholas S. Mascata, Company Commander, Alpha Company 126th Brigade Support Battalion

our third year of sponsoring this event.

Our sponsorship provided complimentary tickets for enlisted Massachusetts Guard soldiers and airmen who may not have been able to attend without our support.

On behalf of Guard Support, Michael Finer, a lieutenant colonel is the Mass. National Guard and Guard Support Board member addressed the audience.

Michael Finer remarked that "the Massachusetts National guard is deploying over 3,000 soldiers and airmen this year and Guard Support has been at the forefront of supporting our soldiers, especially those who are deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Our organization has raised several hundred thousand dollars over the past four years in support of families, financial relief, deployed soldiers and the entrepreneurship program. We have supported the overseas combat internet program and busses from deployment sites to home as well as financial relief.

During the biggest deployment of soldiers and airmen since WWII, Guard Support is working incredibly hard to support our deployed service members and their families in 2011, which will be the most challenging year since the War on Terror began."

"We are all encouraged to apply our talents to help our community. our neighbors, and each other. Too often is the case that so many don't know what to do, where to start or how they can help. I've added Guard Support as a cause "I like" on my Facebook and I encourage everyone to do the same. Support comes in many forms but one way in which anyone can help is simply by spreading the word and encouraging others to do the same." - Sergeant First Class Jeffrey C. Hollett
