Posillico Civil is proud to announce receiving 2 honors for its Route 110 Reconstruction and Bridge Widening project located in Melville, NY.
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has awarded Posillico with the 2011 Highway Project of the Year and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has awarded the project with its On-Time Award.
The project involved expanding the roadways around Route 110 and I495 junction to relieve traffic congestion during peak rush hours. Posillico widened both the north and south bound bridges giving an additional lane to through traffic. Posillico also constructed bridge piers, extended abutment walls, built retaining walls to expand service roads and the on/off ramp. Overhead utilities were relocated to underground conduit and rather than temporary pedestrian bridges, a car service was used to ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing over the construction site.
With a wide range of different work requirements to be performed, Posillico followed an aggressive work plan to complete this project nearly a year ahead of schedule and below budget, fulfilling all work objectives on target for their client.
