How is Exotic Granite Formed? Gneiss (pronounced 'Nice') is a common type of high-grade rock formed by metamorphic processes from pre-existing formations that were originally either igneous or sedimentary rocks. In laymen's terms it is granite that features waves of color and varying patterns. Since these stones are in high demand and lower supply, they generally fit into the higher price ranges. Rocky Mountain Stone stocks a number of exotic granites in our Designer and Premium Collections.
