AHRC is Going Green!
EWaste Business Kicks Off This Season
E-Works, AHRC Suffolk's new electronics recycling business, began fully operating this November! Unlike our nursery and gift basket shop, e-Works is non-seasonal, and has extremely large growth potential.
"We're just at the brink of this whole recycling market," said AHRC Suffolk's Chief Executive Officer, Bill Leonardi. "E-Works will help our agency become more self-sufficient, while giving engaging work to the individuals who've been trained to work for the business."

Read the full article in AHRC Suffolk's Fall 2011 Communicator, hitting mailboxes next week or visit our website's "Special Announcements" box HERE to read it online!
For business propositions, pickup schedules and other information, contact Natale Leo at 631.585.0100 x 585 or nleo@suffahrc.org. And lookout for the e-Works page on AHRC Suffolk's new website, COMING SOON!

Sponsor Spotlight:
DBA Transportation
For over 25 years, AHRC and Paul Johnston, Foundation Board Member and owner of DBA Transportation, have maintained a successful working relationship. Though Paul has no direct connection to the developmentally disabled population, he strongly supports our agency and its mission.
DBA Transportation, located in Bohemia, NY, operates 23 diesel-powered vehicles-16 vans and seven buses. Serving only AHRC, the company provides transportation for individuals with developmental disabilities to and from their Adult Day Habilitation Programs at our Bohemia and Westhampton Beach facilities.
Paul is both a firm backer and dear friend of the agency. He's made it a point to make many of DBA's fleet wheel chair accessible. Drivers are also required to experience the wheelchair lift firsthand.
"It's important for them to understand the anxiety of some of the individuals when being transported from the bus to the ground," said Paul. "I've gotten to know so many of the individuals we transport-and they have fears, just like us."
During his time with AHRC, Paul has "learned how the agency takes care of people who would otherwise have been misunderstood or neglected. It brings me great satisfaction to be part of the team effort in accomplishing this goal," he said.
For all that you do for us, we'd like to help you! Email Kmammolito@suffahrc.org or call 631.585.0100 x 263 about having your business featured in AHRC's publications and website. |
