LA Transgender Film Festival at the Workmen's Circle this Sunday!
|
Join us this Sunday at the Workmen's Circle for documentaries about transgender, genderqueer, and intersex people from around the world. 3pm TRUTH TO POWER (short films program, 80 mins) These inspirational short films take an educational and empowering look at trans and genderqueer lives. Celebrate the power of living truthfully with this collection of creative, defiant, and transformative shorts. 6pm ORCHIDS: MY INTERSEX ADVENTURE (Australia, 60 mins) A closely guarded family secret has left filmmaker Phoebe Hart and her two sisters filled with shame and anger. When she breaks the silence about the hereditary intersex condition that runs in her family, she is confronted with fear and hostility from her mother, and rage from her younger sister. Her family is transformed by Phoebe's insistence that they accept each other (and themselves) unconditionally. A favorite at festivals across the world, Orchids was picked up for distribution by Women Make Movies in 2011.www.tgfilmfest.com
