OUR THIRD SEDER: DON'T MOURN. ORGANIZE.
Sunday, April 24, 1:00 pm.

 

Limited Seating! Please reserve by April 21.  

$50 for members, $60 for guests; under eighteen, half-price.

 

Our labor-themed Seder features songs and presentation in English and Yiddish with group participation.

 

Our Seder is an experience of inclusion and diversity, part of our commitment to being a progressive Jewish alternative in Southern California. Non-Jewish friends and family are always welcome.

 

We are able to offer a number of subsidized meals to community members in need through the auspices of the Clarence Gerber Memorial Passover Program through Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, 6505 Wilshire Blvd., Ste 500, Los Angeles, CA 90048. Call our office at 310 552-2007 for further information and for reservations.

 

Another way to support our Third Seder is by becoming a sponsor and placing an ad in our hagode. All donations will be acknowledged at the Seder. A name listing ($18), business-card-size ad, or larger will be printed in our hagode and acknowledged at the Seder. Call for ad rates.

Include the following information:
     Your name and the name(s) of your guest(s); and
     Choice of chicken or vegetarian meal and how many of each.

This year's theme is Healthy Jobs, Healthy Planet.

 

This is a free event.  There will be workshops about the labor movement and social justice, live entertainment*, speakers, films, contests, refreshments and booths hosted by labor and community organizations.

in its second century!

 

Director (half-time to start) is sought by the Southern California Arbeter Ring/Workmen's Circle, organizing for social justice and Jewish, especially Yiddish, culture for over a century. Successful applicant will have the backing and support of an active governing committee in developing programming and fundraising.   

 

Neither Jewish background nor Yiddish knowledge required, though welcomed.

The Director will coordinate existing programs and help to develop new ones, supervise rental and maintenance of our building, among other managing duties. Hadasa is a hit! Thanks to your attendance, her Conversational Yiddish group is thriving. We've gotten people's Yiddish speaking muscles flexing with world-recognized Yiddish teacher, scholar, translator and raconteuse

Hadasa Cytrynowicz. Originally from Lodz, and later a long-time resident of Brazil, Hadasa brings a wealth of experience and stories, songs, proverbs and sayings, poetry and interesting topics for discussion to her group. Each session is an hour and 15 minutes

.

Admission is by voluntary donation.

 

Keep your Yiddish kite flying by attending this group! All levels of Yiddish are welcome.

      Enjoy a potluck dinner and stimulating conversation with your fellow book lovers. The featured novel is "No Star Too Beautiful - An Anthology of Yiddish Stories from 1382 to the present" - edited and translated by Joachim Neugroschel.

      Please bring enough food to share with about eight people.
