Planning for the Future... First meeting in one week, on June 16 Our Arbeter Ring faces a time of
transition and we call upon our members in good standing to help us plan the future of our organization.
These are some of the issues we'd like to explore with your input:
-Who are we as a secular Jewish community and who do we want to become? (Core
values, cultural identity, political identity.) -What can the Arbeter Ring improve upon? What changes would you like to see
happen? -How do we remain a vibrant, sustainable force in the 21st century? -How can we add value to your life?
Join in and be part of this dynamic process. We ask that you attend as many of the four
meetings we have scheduled as possible. Your membership in Workmen's Circle Arbeter Ring Branch 1016 or 1089 of our
National Organization must be current. Dates are as follows. Please mark them in your calendar and come! --Weds Jun 16 at 7:30 pm --Sun Jun 27 at 10:30 am --Thurs Jul 15 at 7:30 pm --Sat Jul 24 at 2 pm.
We'll
present our findings to all members at a SoCal Brunch Meeting on Sunday, August 29 at 11 am.
Remember, this is your Arbeter Ring. Now's the time to be a leader. Let's
explore our brave new future together. A sheynem un hartsikn dank! Thank you very much! |
| Lilke Majzner Unveiling | The family of our beloved member Lilke Majzner informs us that the unveiling of her grave marker will be held at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park on Sunday, June 13 at 11 am. Any who are interested may attend. Arbeter Ring Southern California has established the Lilke and Szlama Majzner Memorial Fund for Yiddish Culture, which so far has partially funded the Warsaw Ghetto Commemoration held last month, and also new musical arrangements of classic Yiddish songs for our chorus. Additional donations to this fund (payable to "Workmen's Circle") are invited.

The Elections
|
No great words of wisdom from your Arbeter Ring on the morrow of our national primary elections, except to say that over the next few months the issues will become sharper and more defined. Seems like the USA could use a new WPA, so we recommend that voters focus on jobs that put people back to work...if not in the private sector, well, then, in the public sector! As long as we're paying unemployment compensation, we might as well use that money to create meaningful work and training for our people!

Earl Robinson Centennial 1910-2010

Call us at 310.552.2007. Thanks!
