Navigating Greenhouse Gas Regulations

GHG Decision TreeResearchers at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions have completed a new paper and graphic to help navigate the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's regulation of greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources under the Clean Air Act. The materials share how the recently proposed new performance standards interact with existing regulations to control emissions from these sources.  

 

Blue Carbon Focus of IUCN Talk

The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions' David Gordon recently presented work by the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions on blue carbon at a Rio+20 planning session. Gordon and other panelists addressed the significance of coastal ecosystems not only for their benefits to local communities, but also for their ability to sequester carbon.

 

Report: Deep Sea Minerals Mining

The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions' Linwood Pendleton is among the contributors to a recent report on deep sea minerals mining. It consolidates discussion from an earlier workshop focused on the potential environmental impacts of deep sea minerals mining and how authorities will regulate this emerging economic development opportunity in a sustainable manner in areas within and beyond national jurisdiction. 

 

Climate Change, Adaptation in the Ganges 

Climate change is one of the drivers of change in the Ganges river basin, together with population growth, economic development and water management practices. A new paper co-authored by
researchers from the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions evaluates the impact of water on changing circumstances in three sectors of the Ganges River basin: agriculture, ecosystems and energy.
