Allergies got you down? Some people react to Spring with hay fever due to tiny, ultra-light pollen grains that float freely through the air. Their immune system overreacts to the pollen. Keep a log to find out which allergens trigger your symptoms, i.e., where you were when you reacted to them, then avoid them.
I got a copy of the April 2010 Energy Times, at Kale's Natural Foods and an interesting article, "Sneezeless Spring" mentioned that the basic elements of healthy living, "adequate rest, a balanced emotional life and exercise will help regulate the hormonal system, which impacts responses to all allergens." A neti pot with a saline solution can irrigate the sinuses to calm the symptoms of allergy. Years ago, my regular doctor turned me on to saline nose drops which he used on his infant and pregnant wife. Lying down, let the nose drops drip into your nose and your sinuses will open in about 20 minutes.
The article quoted Rise Finkle, ND, of Stone Ridge Natural Medicine in Stone Ridge, New York, as saying, "surprisingly, a key factor in dealing with hay fever rests in the digestive system. Beneficial bacteria located in the digestive tract, known as gut flora, is an essential component in the body's defenses. 85% of the immune system is in the gut, so re-establishing gut flora through probiotics...can get to the root of allergies..." (Get some Love Potion-our kombucha.) and "...cutting out sugar, yeast and simple carbohydrates."
When a few Licious workers' immune system was down, I gave them each a packet of the super foods I take regularly in the morning (Mila, Maca, Chlorella, Bee Pollen, Soy Lecithin, Raw Cacao Nibs) with coconut water blended in a Magic Bullet jar. I also included a capsule of Kale's Super Dolpholus and that seemed to nourish them back towards health.
