Orange County Spelling Bee Results!
Yesterday, the OC Register announced the top fifty-six spellers from across Orange County who have been selected as Spelling Bee finalists. These students will square off Saturday in the final of The Orange County 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee. The winner will head to Washington, D.C. for the national championship in May, an event televised on ESPN.  

We are pleased to congratulate our very own Liza M. for making the finals! We wish her the best of luck on S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y!    


Peer to Peer Days at Fairmont Prep  

On Friday, March 16th, our 7th grade students will visit Fairmont Prep for Peer to Peer Day. Our students will get a taste of the high school life as they tour the campus, sit in on a class, and enjoy themed "Around the World Days" activities. Here is the schedule for the day: 


9:30: Departure from  Mable to Prep 
9:50-10:05am: School Tour
10:09-10:49: Class (Debate, Theater Arts or Fine Art) 
10:53-12:24: Around the World Days Performances and Lunch
12:30: Departure from Prep to Mable 


Please be sure your student's permission slip has been signed and returned so he or she can attend Peer to Peer Day.

Aloha! The whole school is excited about our upcoming Book Fair. An amazing selection of books is headed our way!
At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as books of interest to parents.
Mark your calendar for our Family Event where the whole family can join in the fun. And, you can contribute books to your child's classroom library.
The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading. See you there!

Junior High Students Shine at the Science Fair

Everyone could tell that it was science fair time again. It was very evident. All the clues were there; Mr. Briner gave the FINAL deadline, "Science Fair projects are to be set up in the gym no later than 8:00 a.m. on Friday." Students rushed hurriedly from class to speak with the judges and answer all of their questions. Words like "hypothesis," "conclusion," Fairmont Private Schools"experiment," and "variable" were heard above the din in the junior high hallways. After two days of judging, the winners were declared and honored at an awards ceremony last Thursday night. Awards were handed out for receiving 3rd place, 2nd place, 1st place, Grand Prize, and the coveted Best In Show in both 7th and 8th grade.
