Poster Winner Promotes Being A Good Neighbor

Fairmont Private Schools, Mable Campus

"Prepare Your Neighbor For an Emergency" reads Daryuish's prize-winning poster! The poster won the City of Anaheim's call for entries to its National Preparedness Month poster contest.

As the winner of the contest, Daryuish was recognized at the Anaheim City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 25, where he met Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait and other Council members. Additionally, his artwork will be featured on the City of Anaheim's website and Facebook page.

The contest is part of Anaheim's outreach to its residents as the city encourages neighbors to be more friendly to each other. The city is hoping that by reaching out to your neighbors you will be better equipped during an emergency, and each neighborhood will be able to engage in effective community policing. These efforts are a part of the "Hi Neighbor" pilot program supported by the Department of Homeland Security. The City of Anaheim was chosen as one of only seven cities to pilot the program. Information on the program can be found on the City of Anaheim website. Daryuish's poster can be seen here along with the other winners.

More pictures of Daryuish's visit to the City Council meeting can be seen on Fairmont's Flickr site.
