Mable Parent Night
Mable's Parent Night will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. The night will kick off with a Blackboard Informational Meeting in the Cafeteria at 6:00p.m. After the Blackboard meeting, refreshments will be served in the Cafeteria and in front of the Library building. During this time, the specialty teachers will be mingling with parents. Immediately following the refreshments, Junior High parents will follow their child's schedule and travel from class to class meeting their child's teachers. Junior High Parent Night will end at 8:41 p.m. Elementary parents will meet in their child's classroom from 7:00p.m. until 8:15p.m. Look for a detailed schedule to come home with your child. Fairmont Parent Association's Back to School Picnic
The Fairmont Parent Association (FPA) will host a Back to School Picnic on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 12:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. The FPA is now selling pre-sale tickets for the In-N-Out truck that will be here during the picnic. Additionally, the pool will be open and staffed with a lifeguard; there will be a DJ, a waterslide, and an ice cream truck! Junior High Photo Day
All Junior High students will have their photograph taken for the yearbook on Friday, September 16. Parents will have a chance to view their child's pictures before ordering. In addition to their individual portrait, the eighth graders will have a panoramic picture taken in front of the school. These panoramic photos can be purchased for $16. All panoramic photo orders need to be turned in before picture day on September 16. All students must wear their required uniform on this day. Boys must wear their white polo shirt with black or khaki pants. Girls must wear their white blouse and plaid skirt. |

We Remember
 This Sunday will mark the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, when planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and into a field in Pennsylvania.
To mark the anniversary of this day, Mr. Edmisten's class shared a story that paid homage to the World Trade Center during flag salute on Wednesday. His class recited excerpts from "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers" by Mordicai Gerstein.
Students recited the "Pledge of Allegiance" and sang "God Bless America" while waving American flags during Wednesday's flag salute. In addition, Mable's Boy Scouts wore their uniforms in honor of the occasion. In order to learn about the events of September 11, Mrs. Calabria encouraged students to watch news coverage about that day during the upcoming weekend or talk to their parents about the events that transpired on September 11, 2001.
The Nixon Library and Museum will have on display 20 tons of wreckage from the World Trade Center through Sunday, September 11. Another touching tribute to that day is the book, "September 12th: We Knew Everything Would Be All Right" which was written and illustrated by 1st Grade Students from H. Byron Masterson Elementary.
