Recognizing Ourselves in One Another: CSC in Pictures
Greetings!
"Under the watchful gaze of old Grandfather Mountain we gathered. All experiencing various phases of the human condition, and yet, recognizing one another as aspects of ourselves through our stories, through our insights, through our invulnerable vulnerability."
-- Ami Chen Mills-Naim
Last month's Three Principles retreat was a phenomenal event.
Twenty-eight people gathered at Blowing Rock Conference Center north of Charlotte, North Carolina for two and a half days dedicated to the theme, "The Place I Belong: Return to the Self." Get a feel for the retreat by watching this short video:
Ami Chen Mills-Naim flew in from California to lead us through an exceptional experience of uncovering our own wisdom in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
And there was plenty of wisdom in the room! One participant wrote, "Small group sessions allowed us to truly show we have similar thoughts, and that it's OK not to know how to handle some of them." Another wrote to us, "When my inside is beautiful, my outside is beautiful." (Read more and see our retreat photo spread.)
Thanks to donations, we were able to provide scholarships forseven individuals who are committed to using the Three Principles in their personal lives or in their work, but could not afford to attend without your support. A heartfelt thanks to our donors! You are helping to spread well-being exponentially when you give. Those people who deepen their understanding of how Thought impacts their experience of life -- and who deepen their awareness of that which lies beyond personal thinking -- are like stones dropped in a pond, spreading the potential for peace in ever-expanding circles of possibility.
Watch for news in your inbox of a 2013 retreat in California!
Best wishes,
Dave Nichols, Executive Director

The CSC team gathered in Charlotte for a rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with our National Community Resiliency Project partners from Charlotte, North Carolina; Des Moines, Iowa; and Greenville, Mississippi on Monday, October 1st, following the retreat.
NCRP partners, including Larry Williams, Executive Director of the Delta Citizens Alliance, gathered for a meeting in Charlotte to help refine our vision.
The group engaged in discussion, while helping to refine our mission and envision future directions. The partners discussed what they see as of unique value in CSC's work: its grassroots nature; it's "equalizing" tendency which diminishes racial lines; and its ability to connect local organizations and individuals with each other from a national perspective.
We appreciate the involvement of all our partners in CSC's community-based work, which collaboratively develops ways of working with people for the purpose of building communities based on equality and mutual respect. For more information on the NCRP,click here.

Spanish version of Three Principles book
Gabriela Maldonado-Montano, CSC's Senior Training Consultant, is the Spanish translation editor of Los Tres Principios, the soon-to-be-released Spanish version of Jack Pransky's, Somebody Should Have Told Us.
This is the first-ever Spanish book about the Three Principles.
Jack Pransky says, "Without the Spanish translation editing of Gabriela Maldonado-Montano, this book would not have come to be in Spanish. Because there are no words in either English or Spanish that can adequately describe the true nature of these spiritual principles, there were places where the original translation either gave the wrong meaning or simply did not come out right. Gabriela put in tireless hours with both the translator and with me going over the translation in great detail.
She was invaluable to the process."
