As we, at the Center for Sustainable Change, continue our 2011 Fundraising Campaign, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who contributes to positive, sustainable societal change by directly supporting our work through donations.
Because of you, we can boast a long list of successes. For example:
In Lakewood (North Carolina), crime rates dropped and civic participation increased when our partner organization, Lakewood CDC, committed to underpinning all of its community building activities with a Principles-based approach.
At schools, such as Principals Center Collaborative high school in San Francisco, teachers have learned to see past difficult and hostile behaviors to the innate health and goodness in students, and students are more engaged with their academics.
Community pride is on the rise at Advent Heights, a low-income housing project in the Mississippi Delta, as adults and children engage with the 3 Principles through our partner organization, Delta Citizens Alliance.
In the years since the late Dr. Roger Mills first set foot in Modello -- the first community project based in the Three Principles -- CSC has demonstrated significant impacts on crime rates, civic engagement and overall well-being in communities. Our non-profit work has spread to five states in the USA and is growing.
As we reflect on the past and on our next steps, including our growing work in the corporate field, we are mindful of all the ways your donations, your love, and your willingness to help spread the word have made these outcomes possible.
We want to deeply acknowledge the profound contributions of our many 3 Principles-based colleagues and partners, without whom such outcomes would be unimaginable.
Just think what the world would look like as children grow up with an understanding of the role of Thought and innate wisdom, and communities and businesses function within this context! We would love to offer more free audio and video to the public, to provide more scholarships for trainees, and to inspire others through publications that document the legacy of change that the Center represents.
Please donate here and be part of this important work, which you can read about below and on our Blog.
Donate now, and we would love to give you a special gift of 2 audio downloads: "Beyond Self-Help: Moving Past Self Concern and Realizing the True Nature of Who We are Now," featuring Ami Chen Mills-Naim; and "Difference Makers Making a Bigger Difference," featuring Elese Coit.
These audios are not currently available on their own anywhere else. Those of you who recently donated through our mail campaign will also receive these free audio gifts (Please ensure we have your email address! Send an email to info@principlespsychology.org to request these audio recordings if you recently made a donation).
If you were to visit the housing development known as Advent Heights, you'd see that the townhouse units are plain and unadorned, that there are few trees or shrubs planted here, and that several units are vacant, their unhinged doors revealing dark and lifeless interiors.
If you were to take a closer look, you might notice the details - flowers planted here and there; children playing between the townhouse units.
To the residents of this community on the north-eastern edge of Greenville, Mississippi, these details matter. They signify change ...
I was employed for 25 years with the Santa Clara County Probation Department in Juvenile Hall with offenders as young as 11 years of age. My task as a supervisor was to monitor the contractors who came to deliver services to our incarcerated juveniles. One of those contractors was The Department of Alcohol and Drugs, 3 Principles division. They delivered Three Principle training to a selected group of juveniles.
At this particular time, I was also responsible for what is known as the 707B offenders, juveniles who have committed adult crimes. This population, if found guilty, was headed for some serious time in custody, up to double life in some cases. Imagine a "double life" sentence at the age of 16 ... Read more
CSC's Corporate Work Yields Benefits
The Sustainability Manager for the global agri-business, Driscoll's Berries, talks about the impact of 3 Principles training on the vitality and productivity of staff.
Excerpt: "There's an extremely powerful domino effect. If people can work more effectively together; have better understanding about one another; come to the table with more respect and empathy for our differences; and be willing to work to understand and bridge those differences ... not only do teams get stronger, projects get stronger, the company gets stronger. People are happier in their jobs, which means they take more pride in what they do." - Katie Montano, Sustainability Manager, Driscoll's Strawberry Assoc.

"To Ami, Gabriela and ALL the people that spoke and/or participated in today's tele-seminar ... You made my heart grow :). When I felt that happen before, the principles took me to a place more positive than I could imagine...
That happened again today. I can't wait to see where I go!
