 Hello and happy New Year!

This week, along with the rest of the Mango

Logistics team, I've been busy catching up after

the Christmas break. In a bid to escape the snow,

I spent the festive season in Thailand where I

enjoyed a long overdue holiday, so have come

back fully recharged and ready to get stuck in.

Thanks to my iPhone - still my favourite gadget - I stayed on top of emails while I was away so have avoided the dreaded mountain of them on my return.

In the meantime, as we kick off the New Year, I'd like to thank all our clients for their business in 2010, and wish you all a very happy and successful New Year.

Best wishes,
Daniel Levan-Harris
CEO and Co-Founder.

Mango New Year's resolutions

What's your New Year's resolution this year? Lose weight, drink less, stop smoking? While we can't help you with those, we can help with another one of the most common: decluttering your home or office.

How to do it: Gather together all those big items that you only use once a year or don't have space for, then put them into storage with Mango until you need them. Whether you want to clear a whole room or just that overflowing cupboard under the stairs, we can store it all. Want to know more?

Give us a call on 0844 880 5010 or go to www.mangostorage.co.uk

World Cup

Now that Russia has been named as the World Cup host for 2018, football fans and businesses alike will be brushing up on their Russian knowledge. At Mango we've plenty of experience couriering packages to locations throughout this fascinating country and we deliver to all major Russian cities. Transit time is 1-2 days from the UK to Moscow - our most popular Russian destination.
Not in a hurry? Then why not consider sea freight for your heavier items? It's a slower service but works out much cheaper.
If you'd like to pick our brains about sending packages and the Russian customs process, just get in touch with the team at Mango International on 0845 274 444 or go to www.mangointernational.co.uk

Competition time - make us laugh!

Christmas has passed, it's freezing outside and we didn't get the World Cup bid...we need cheering up!  So, this issue we're asking Mango Matters Newsletter readers to send us in their best joke.

To kick us off, here's Sales Director, Ian Cromie's seasonal favourite:

      Q. What do you get when you cross a snowman with a shark?

      A. Frost bite!

Think you can do better? Then send your favourite (clean!) joke to Tarnya on tarnya@mangointernational.co.uk She'll be sending a prize to every sender who manages to make her laugh and might even publish the best joke in the next newsletter.

Mango favourites

LucidicaThis edition's Mango Favourite is a company called Lucidica, or as we like to call them - our IT gurus.

Lucidica gives IT support, consultancy and training to small businesses. They look after all types of computers from PCs to Macs and even mobile devices such as BlackBerrys, Androids and (Dan's favourite) iPhones. They also run monthly half-day technology seminars at the British Library on topics such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), email marketing, Google AdWords and Social Media. We've had the pleasure of attending these seminars and can highly recommend them.
But mainly, we like our friends at Lucidica because they give us good old-fashioned customer service - they turn up on time, do what they say they will and don't have any hidden charges.

Mango People

 Guy Pic

Meet Guy Heywood. Guy is not only a member of the Mango International Operations team, he's also one of our courier drivers.

That means he spends lots of time out on the roads in the Mango van. Here, Mango Matters puts Guy in the hot seat:

Q1. What are the best bits about being a courier?
Driving around seeing the different places. When there's time to take a breather you realise what a great
city London really is!

Q2. ...and the not so great bits?
Definitely the traffic lights.

Q3. Traffic jams, bad weather, road closures...how do you make sure packages get to their destination on time?
Some problems are unavoidable unfortunately, but we can usually find a way through with thorough planning and a good knowledge of the roads.

Q4. What's the strangest thing you have ever delivered?
A bottle of vodka with a scorpion inside....apparently it makes the vodka taste better - just wonder if you have to eat it!

Q5. A little birdie tells us you're a DJ in your spare time. Tell us more...
Yeah, I have huge passion for music. All types really but I DJ and produce Electro/Bass house music. Visit www.soundcloud.com/dirtydice for a mix and a couple of tracks.

Check out our Guy's DJing skills on the 29th January when he'll be at the Vibe Bar on Bricklane, London for FreakyElectronique.

Sending presents for charity

For the second year in a row we replaced our usual Christmas cards with e-cards. Not only did it mean cutting down on paper and reducing our carbon footprint, it also meant we could donate the money we'd saved to our chosen charities. The first is Age UK who support elderly people throughout the UK; the second is Operation Christmas Child who send thousands of Christmas gifts to children around the globe who are in need.

Good to know

Already nervous about achieving those New Year's resolutions? Researchers have found that men are 22% more likely to achieve their objectives if they break them down into more specific goals (ie 'go jogging once a week' rather than 'get fit') while women are 10% more likely to succeed if they tell friends and family to gain their support.

Out on the road

Feeling the chill this winter?

Then spare a thought for our same-day bike couriers who are out there delivering packages all day, every day. Not one to be beaten by the weather, one of our riders, Mike, has come up with a clever new way to keep warm: heated insoles!

Look out for him next time you order a courier - he's the one with the toasty feet.

Competition Winner

Thanks to those of you who entered last month's competition to suggest an article.

The winner was
John O'Reilly from MacFarlane's, who said: 'How about a feature whereby we get to know something about the people at Mango and what they do? I am sure your clients would like to be able to put faces to the names.'
We thought it was a great idea so in this edition you can read our new  'Mango People' feature. John, a bottle of champagne will be delivered to your door (by Mango of course!) very soon.
