Lafourche Parish President Charlotte Randolph announced today that Lafourche Parish Government employees will offer a "Christmas Blessing" for Lafourche Parish families in need by conducting a food drive beginning today through Tuesday, December 14th. President Randolph is asking residents to participate by donating non-perishable food items at any of our three main parish offices.
"The residents of Lafourche Parish have been through so much adversity lately, we felt we wanted to use this time to give back to the community in an effort to help those in need during this holiday season," said President Randolph. "We want all Lafourche Parish families to have a blessed and beautiful holiday season, and we hope we can help bring a little more joy to some families most in need."
Parish employees will begin accepting donations today during normal office hours (Monday through Thursday, 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) at the following locations:
· Thibodaux Government Complex (402 Green Street, Thibodaux)
· Mathews Government Complex (4876 Highway 1)
· Galliano Government Complex (16241 E. Main Street, Suite B)
Only non-perishable food items are being collected. This may include canned goods such as vegetables, meats, fruits, juices and beans, as well as traditional holiday foods such as yams and cranberry sauce. Acceptable items also include dry foods such as flour, sugar, rice and pasta. Additionally, we will also accept personal care items such as diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and shampoo.
"We ask our residents to donate and be generous so that everyone can have a special holiday this year," said President Randolph.
