OECD Pilot Survey: Sep. 14 Deadline

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is conducting a survey to understand how companies are performing due diligence to determine the source of tin, tantalum, and tungsten in their supply chains.  The survey is being distributed to companies in multiple industries.  Please note that the survey link has been updated.

EICC members are encouraged to complete the survey by the extended deadline of Sep. 14.  If your company has received the survey from more than one association, please respond only once.  Contact Sasha Radovich for assistance.

Conflict-Free Minerals Supply Chain Workshop:

Sep. 17-18

Invitations for the tenth Conflict-Free Minerals Supply Chain Workshop have been sent.  The workshop will take place in Brussels on September 17 & 18.  Join other supply chain participants to ensure responsible sourcing of Tin, Tantalum, Tungsten, and Gold.  The invitation with additional information is available on the EICC website.

Join the Governance Transition Task Force!

EICC will launch a governance Transition Task Force (TTF) on Sep. 10 to provide input into the association's transition to a new governance and management model.  All interested EICC members are encouraged to participate.

Task Force Duties

The task force will help recruit new Board members and interview Executive Director candidates.

Planning Call: Sep. 10

TTF members and the Board met via conference call on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 to review the plan.  A final call will be held on Sep. 10 to finalize the plan.  The TTF will then meet regularly to help implement the plan.

Time Commitment

Members with limited time may participate to help the task force with specific tasks.  AMS will guide the process, prepare materials, and facilitate all calls and meetings to reduce time demands on task force participants.

Contact Brad Cameron to join the task force or for more information.

Anti-Corruption Training Resource

The UK & FCPA Work Group met with several providers of anti-corruption training.  A summary of the meetings is available to EICC members as a reference for internal anti-corruption programs, including relating to supply chain requirements.  The material is available here.  It is intended for EICC members only.  Please do not distribute.

Contact Ben Bruno, Mike McDonnel, or Kathleen Wong for more information.

Health & Safety Training Session:

Shenzhen, Sep. 19

The L&CB Work Group will conduct an EICC-GeSI Health and Safety (H&S) training course on September 19 in Shenzhen.  The course will help members and their suppliers understand the importance of health and safety programs to prevent accidents and protect workers.  It will also help companies overcome challenges associated with implementing effective programs.

Register for the course here.  EICC and GeSI members may send two attendees for free.  The fee for non-members is $150 (US).

The six-hour course will be hosted by Philips.  Training will be provided in Mandarin by Underwriters Laboratories Specialized Technology Resources (ULSTR).  The course is for H&S professionals and facility managers, and is based on a "train the trainer" model.  It includes a Facilitator's Guide, Participant Manual, and PowerPoint slides.

Audit Process and EICC-ON Enhancements

Section Score Report An error has been identified in the way question CH1.3 scores in EICC-ON.  If a user selects "Yes-Same As Individual Above," the system should assign the same score as a "Yes" response, but is assigning the same score as it would for a "No" response.  This results in a higher risk score.  To fix the issue, users can go back into the SAQ and change the answer choice to "Yes" for CH1.3.  The "Yes" response will cause dependency questions to appear.  This error will be corrected in the next revision of the SAQ.

EICC-ON Dashboard and User Licenses

Companies can use a new feature on the EICC-ON dashboard to determine how many of their allocated user licenses are in use.  Each EICC member company is allocated 50 user licenses as part of membership.  EICC-ON will prompt for additional payment if additional user licenses are needed.

VAP Tip of the Week

Check the weekly VAP tracker to see if your suppliers are undergoing or have completed a validated audit.  The tracker can be viewed on the VAP page of the EICC SharePoint site.  Companies must have a confidentiality agreement in place with the VAP before accessing the tracker.  Contact Grant Feichtinger to gain access.
