New Supply Chain Transparency Task Force

 

The EICC Board of Directors voted today to form a Transparency Task Force.  The task force will review issues related to supply chain transparency, and will recommend approaches that EICC may consider to improve reporting and public exposure of supply chain practices.  

 

Information about the initiative was presented at the EICC Summer Membership meeting.  Slides and notes from the presentation are available on the Sharepoint site.  Contact Ben Bruno to join the task force.

Proposed Governance Model Approved

 

The proposed governance model to carry EICC forward beginning in 2013 was approved by a vote of Full Members.  Formal notification was provided to primary representatives today.  A copy of the notification is available for EICC members here.

 

Transition Task Force

 

A Transition Task Force will be formed to help implement transition activities. Members who would like to participate on the task force can register by sending an email to Grant Feictinger.

AMA/CMA WebinarAugust 8

 

The VAP Operations Management Team will host a final webinar on the Auditee and Customer Managed Audit process on August 8.  Click on the link below to register:

Worker-Management Communication

 

EICC and GeSI will sponsor a final 2012 Worker-Management Communication Training session.  The "train the trainer" course helps member companies and their suppliers implement effective worker-management communication systems.  It also raises worker awareness of their rights and responsibilities. 

 

Final Session: Sep. 3-5
 
The final session will be hosted by EMC on Sep. 3-5 in Singapore.  The maximum capacity for the session is 40 attendees.  EICC & GeSI member companies and suppliers should register early.  Encourage your suppliers to attend.

Health & Safety Training Session: 

Shenzhen, Sep. 19 

 

The L&CB Work Group will conduct an EICC-GeSI Health and Safety (H&S) training course on September 19 in Shenzhen.  The course will help members and their suppliers understand the importance of health and safety programs to prevent accidents and protect workers.  It will also help companies overcome challenges associated with implementing effective programs.
 
The six-hour course will be hosted by Philips.  Training will be provided in Mandarin by Underwriters Laboratories Specialized Technology Resources (ULSTR).  The course is for H&S professionals and facility managers, and is based on a "train the trainer" model.  It includes a Facilitator's Guide, Participant Manual, and PowerPoint slides.

2013 Budget

 

The EICC Finance Committee provided a budget update at the Summer Membership Meeting, and will provide a webinar in October on the 2013 budget.  Meanwhile, Finance Committee members will be available via conference call on August 22 at 3pm EST to answer budget questions. Contact Carrie Hoffman with questions or to participate in the call.

EICC Audit Courses Available

 

Verité  has scheduled an EICC Labor & Ethics Lead Auditor course to take place in Santa Clara from September 24-28. This is the only US based course remaining in the 2012 calednar year. The full list of lead auditor courses scheduled in 2012 can be found below. Visit the Verité website for course descriptions and fee information. Fees include an online pre-study component and a five-day workshop.  Payment can be made directly through the website. Available courses include:
  • Bangkok: Aug. 13-17
  • Shenzhen: Sept. 10-14 (Mandarin)
  • US: Sep. 24-28
  • Mexico: Oct. 15-19 (Spanish)
  • Brazil: Nov. 5-9

Conflict-Free Minerals Supply Chain Workshop

 

Official invitations for the tenth Conflict-Free Minerals Supply Chain Workshop have been sent.  The workshop will take place in Brussels on September 17 & 18.  Join other supply chain participants to ensure responsible sourcing of Tin, Tantalum, Tungsten, and Gold.  The invitation with additional information is available on the EICC website.

Audit Process and EICC-ON Enhancements

 

EICC-ON Dashboard and User Licenses

A new announcement on the EICC-ON dashboard is available to indicate a company's current user count.  Each EICC member company is allocated 50 user licenses as part of membership.  EICC-ON will prompt for additional payment if additional users are needed.

 

EICC-ON Invitation Process

Check out the new and improved invitation process in EICC-ON.  Users can now see who has been invited on the new Invited Supplier tab. Further improvements to the invitation process will be incorporated. Watch the Bulletin for updates!

 

VAP Tip of the Week

Check the weekly VAP tracker to see if your suppliers are undergoing or have completed a validated audit.  The tracker can be viewed on the VAP page of the EICC SharePoint site.  Companies must have a confidentiality agreement in place with the VAP before accessing the tracker.  Contact Grant Feichtinger to gain access.
