Report on Worker-Management Communication Launch
The Learning & Capability Building work group launched the Worker-Management Communication training course in Shenzhen on Nov 28-30 and Dec 5-7. The course was developed with INFACT Global Partners and the Fair Labor Association. Thanks to Philips and Golden Elite Technologies for hosting the training sessions.
A total of 59 representatives from 27 companies attended the sessions. An additional 37 representatives participated in the training pilot in Malaysia in April 2011. The training received positive feedback from participants, who provided an average score of 4 out of a possible 5 rating for both sessions. The course was developed as a "train the trainer" model to help members and their suppliers implement effective worker-management communication systems. It also aims to raise the awareness for workers of their rights and responsibilities. The final materials will be available to EICC and GeSI members and their suppliers in January 2012. EICC and GeSI will sponsor three trainings in 2012 to be presented by INFACT. The workgroup is seeking input from EICC members about the training plan and training locations. Plans so far include two sessions in China (Shanghai and Shenzhen) and one in an English speaking country in Southeast Asia. Companies that have a country preference in the region or willing to host a session should contact Jannie Bailey and complete this brief survey. Members that want to offer the training in their companies or with suppliers can also contact ispaulding@infactory-solutions.com directly. Click here to see a list of the companies that attended the launch and feedback from participants.
