corruptionWorker-Management Communication Training Materials

The L&CB Work Group will present its new training modules today at the EICC Summer Membership Meeting.  Worker-Management Communication training materials are available for final review by EICC members.  The materials were developed by the L&CB Worker-Management Communication Task Force in collaboration with INFACT/FLA.  They incorporated changes that were suggested after the materials were used in a pilot in April.

This will be the last chance to review the materials before they are translated into Chinese and launched this Fall.  The materials include a facilitator's guide, participant handouts, and PowerPoint slides.  Contact Jessica Davis Pluess to offer suggestions or for more information.  The deadline for feedback is Friday, August 5, 2011.

code2011 - 2012 Code Review Process

EICC members, non-members, NGOs, governments, academia, stakeholders, etc. can participate in each review cycle of the EICC's Code of Conduct.  The EICC General Code Review process has three elements:  a feedback submission period (August 1 - October 31 2011) when changes to the Code can be proposed, a review, evaluation and decision period (November 2011 - January 2012) during which EICC members review and vote on proposed changes, and a Code revision period (February - April 2012) when revisions to the Code and supporting documents are made.  Code change proposals will be accepted beginning August 1, 2011.  All proposals must be submitted online, using the web form which will be available here.

conflictConflict Minerals Reporting Template

The Extractives Work Group has launched the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template tool, developed to facilitate disclosure and communication of information regarding smelters that provide material to company supply chains.  The template can assist companies in their due diligence processes by tracking information in their supply chains that is related to conflict minerals.

The template includes questions on company conflict-free policies, engagement with direct suppliers, and a list of smelters companies and their suppliers use.  The template provides written instructions and recorded training on use of the tool, and is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Additionally, a "dashboard" is available for aggregating multiple templates from suppliers.  The dashboard enables data analysis and supports the preparation of consolidated information from multiple suppliers.  The dashboard is available in English.

EICC members, along with non-member participants of the Extractives Work Group, can access the due diligence reporting tools and training materials here, beginning July 20.  The template and dashboard will be released to non-members in early August.  Contact Jay Celorie or Kirsty Stevenson for more information.  Request a SharePoint account by contacting Ben Bruno.
