Join a Planning Group This Week!
EICC work groups are meeting now to develop plans on three key initiatives. All members are encouraged to provide input by joining one or more of the following groups:
- Code Conformance: Meeting on Wednesdays from 1-2 PM EST. The group is developing a plan to accelerate the pace at which members are able to conform to the EICC Code of Conduct.
- Environment: Will meet April 21 from 1-2 PM EST. The group is developing plans to reduce impacts relating to carbon and water.
- Overtime: Meeting on Thursdays from 7-8 PM EST. The group is developing a plan to help EICC members improve conformance to national and EICC Code limits on overtime.

The plans will be presented in May to senior executives from member companies, and will guide EICC activities. All companies that want to provide input into the plans are encouraged to join the planning groups this week. Contact Grant Feichtinger to join a group. |
Task Force Members Needed to Focus on Slavery and Human Trafficking Law
EICC is establishing a task force to address the California Transparency Supply Chains Act of 2010. The law will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2012. It requires all retailers and manufacturers that conduct business in California to take the following actions if they produce annual sales of $100 million or more:
- Evaluate and address the risks of human trafficking and slavery in product supply chains.
- Require direct suppliers to certify that materials in company products comply with laws in the countries in which they are doing business.
- Conduct audits of suppliers.
- Maintain accountability standards.
The task force will develop recommendations and a tool kit to help member companies respond to the law. Contact Ben Bruno to join the task force. |
Free Worker-Management Training for EICC Members and Suppliers in Penang, Malaysia
The Learning & Capability Building Work Group is offering a free Worker-Management Communication training course on April 27-29 in Penang, Malaysia. The course will support efforts by EICC and GeSI member companies and their suppliers to implement effective worker-management communications systems. It will also help raise employee awareness about workplace rights and responsibilities.
The training will be provided in English, and will be hosted by OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. It will be conducted by our materials development partners, Fair Labor Association and INFACT Solutions. The course is designed to provide senior human resource managers with tools to develop good communication systems that will improve operational efficiency and result in better working environments. There is no fee for the training, and attendance is limited to two representatives per company.

Compliance Program Reporting Deadline Is April 15
The deadline for Full Members to submit 2011 Q1 data is April 15. Please note that additional data is required beyond the information all companies submitted as part of the baseline data collection. The additional data covers member facilities and suppliers. Access the data collection sheet here.

E-TASC Data Migration
An FAQ was sent to primary representatives to answer questions about the new Enablon system and data migration from E-TASC. The FAQ is available here.
All companies are encouraged to take action before subscriptions to E-TASC expire. Current E-TASC SAQ data will not be migrated to the new system.
Suppliers that accept an invitation to register with Enablon will be able to save their current SAQs for reference. The Enablon system will have a new SAQ with new questions that support audit activities and the new Services SAQ. Additional details on loading current SAQ questionnaires in the new system will be provided at a later date. Contact Grant Feichtinger with questions.
