The Board took the following action this week:

  • Logo Policy: Reviewed guidelines for use by third-parties of the EICC logo.
  • Employee Health & Welfare: Reviewed the final draft of the Employee Health & Welfare Task Force report and recommendations to address employee welfare in China.
  • Election: Established a timeline for an election to fill the open Board seat (Director for Asia Program) and new Finance Committee position.

meetingHealthHealth & Safety Training Pilot: Free Supplier Training Opportunity

 

The Learning & Capability Building Work Group held the first of two free training pilots in November for the Health & Safety Training Course. The second pilot will be hosted by IBM in Guadalajara on March 24. An invitation letter that you can use to send to your suppliers can be found here.

The invitation can be sent with your company's logo. All members are encouraged to invite their suppliers to the pilot training, and to submit feedback after the session. Availability is limited to 100 attendees. Companies will have access to the materials to deploy to suppliers after feedback is obtained. Contact Grant Feichtinger for more information.

surveyEICC UK & FCPA Taskforce Survey: Deadline Extended 

The UK & FCPA Taskforce has developed a survey to determine if EICC member companies have anti-corruption due diligence programs for third parties in place, and to collect information on the programs. Please complete the brief survey by Monday, March 21. Information from the survey will be shared with the EICC Board and may be made available to EICC member companies by request.

planningThree-Year Initiatives: Join a Planning Group! 

 

The EICC membership voted during the January Membership Meeting to establish four key initiatives for attention by EICC over the next three years. The initiatives include:
  • Code Conformance: Accelerate the pace at which members are able to conform to the EICC Code of Conduct.
  • Conflict Minerals: Eliminate conflict minerals from the supply chain.
  • Environment: Reduce impacts relating to carbon, waste, and water.
  • Overtime: Conform to national and EICC Code limits on overtime.

Plans for each initiative will be developed by work groups over the next few weeks. All EICC members are encouraged to participate in the process. The best way to participate is to join the planning effort for one or more of the initiatives.

materialsCarbon Reporting 2011 Kicks Off! 

 

Environmental Sustainability Work Group is finalizing the 2010 Carbon Report and kicking off the 2011 reporting cycle. If your company is participating in carbon reporting, please submit your signed Terms & Conditions form to Jesse Nishinaga at BSR by March 31.

BanConflict Minerals: Mining Suspension Lifted in Eastern DRC 

 

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) announced that it has lifted the suspension on mining in the provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, and Maniema. The decision has important implications for the iTSCi Conflict Mineral Program. A statement by iTSCi about the decision and its impact on the program is provided here.
