AuditorEICC-GeSI Announce Launch of Auditor Certification Program

EICC and GeSI launched the IRCA-EICC-GeSI Labor & Ethics Lead Auditor Certification Program on August 26. Under the program, auditors can apply for certification on the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA) web site - http://www.irca.org/certification/certification_10.html.

EICC-GeSI and IRCA have established auditor certification requirements for EICC and GeSI auditors, including requirements relating to professional experience, education, and training and auditing experience (described in IRCA 2002). The training requirement can be met by successfully completing the new 5-day course. A class schedule and registration information* can be found at www.verite.org. Participants must complete an online pre-learning module prior to attending the live course (allow 2-3 weeks to complete the on-line module).

Beginning April 2011, audit teams that perform EICC-GeSI Validated Audits must be led by an auditor who has successfully completed the IRCA-EICC-GeSI course. The lead auditor must have either achieved certification or applied for certification as a Lead Auditor.

Note: The certification program and training course are currently only available for Labor and Ethics auditors. A full 5-day course for EICC-GeSI EHS Lead Auditors will be available by the end of March 2011. Until the EHS Lead Auditor class is available, EHS auditors will continue to be approved by the Validated Audit Program Manager. The requirement for all EHS auditors to achieve certification will become effective one year after the course is launched.

For more information on the certification program and associated training, visit www.irca.org and www.verité.org. For more information on interim EHS auditor approval, contact Patrick Neyts.

*Organizations that would like to host a course or would like a class delivered exclusively for their employees should contact Verité at +1.413.253.9227.
