toolsEICC - GeSI Announce Launch of Auditor Certification Program

The Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) are pleased to announce the formal launch of the IRCA EICC-GeSI Labor & Ethics Lead Auditor Certification program.  Beginning August 26, 2010, auditors will be able to apply for certification on the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA) web site - http://www.irca.org/certification/certification_10.html.

IRCA and EICC-GeSI have established auditor certification requirements including professional experience, education, training and auditing experience (described in IRCA 2002).  The training requirement for certification can be met by successfully completing the IRCA-approved EICC-GeSI Labor & Ethics 5-day Lead auditor course, available from Verité.  A listing of upcoming classes and registration information* can be found at www.verite.org.  There is an online pre-learning that must be completed prior to attending the live workshop.  Please allow 2 to 3 weeks to complete the on-line module.

Beginning April 2011, audit teams performing EICC-GeSI Validated Audits must be led by an auditor who has successfully completed the IRCA-certified EICC-GeSI Labor & Ethics Lead Auditor course and has either achieved certification or has applied for certification as an EICC-GeSI Lead Auditor under the Labor and Ethics scope.

Note:  The certification program and training course is currently only available for Labor and Ethics auditors.  A full, 5-day course for EICC-GeSI EHS Lead Auditors will be available by the end of March 2011.    Until the IRCA EICC-GeSI EHS Lead Auditor class is available, EHS auditors will continue to be approved by the Validated Audit Program Manager.  The requirement for all EHS auditors to achieve certification will become effective one year after the course is launched.

For more information on the certification program and associated training, visit www.irca.org and www.verité.org.  For more information on interim EHS auditor approval, contact Patrick Neyts at audits@vectra-ontl.com.

*Organizations that would like to host a course or would like a class delivered exclusively for employees of their company should contact Verité directly at +1.413.253.9227.
