WaterWater Quality in China: Supplier Lists Needed

The Environmental Sustainability Work Group requires supplier lists for a study on water quality in China. BSR is creating a report on the impact on water quality in China by facilities in the ICT supply chain. 755 unique suppliers have been identified. If your company has not already contributed to this research project, please send a list of your supply facilities in China to Laura Ediger.

A high percentage of ICT supplier facilities in China must be identified to improve the quality of the report. All information submitted for the report will be kept confidential. Contact Laura for more information.

VAPImportant VAP Milestone Reached

The Validated Audit Process (VAP) has achieved a turnaround time of 26 days from on-site audit to release of audit reports. This is a big and important step in the evolution of the VAP. Thanks to the VAP participants and the audit program management team for helping EICC advance the program through the ramp-up phase.

The VAP can accommodate additional audits through 2010. EICC members are encouraged to submit audit requests. Click here for more information. Remember to have auditees submit contracts on time to make sure requested audits can begin quickly.

EPAWorking Hours: New Work Group Leader and Members Needed

The Working Hours Work Group requires a leader. Contact Grant Feichtinger if you are interested in the position. Additional work group members are also needed.

Excessive working hours is the number-one issue of EICC Code non-compliance. In addition, the media attention on this issue has increased. All EICC members who face working hour challenges in their operations or supply chains should consider joining the work group.

A short training session on energy management and conducting energy assessments will be offered on August 26 from 8 AM-12 Noon at the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen. The training will be in Mandarin, and is open to EICC members and member suppliers.

Presentations will focus on the processes, procedures, and protocols of industrial energy assessments. This will include the concept of "industrial triage" when evaluating energy use and reduction, as well as "rules-of-thumb" and insights on how to move an energy project forward in the current industrial economic climate. The training will also cover some of the tools available on the Department of Energy website, as well as possible incentives in China for energy efficiency.

Click here for the bio of the instructor, Dr. ShyShenq Liou. EICC Members and member suppliers are encouraged to send two local representatives to the training. Register for the training here. Presentation slides in both Mandarin and English will be distributed by email to training registrants in advance, and will be available for download after the session.
